<p>This is the Forecast Discussion from KSEA / Seattle WA NWS at Friday 01/10/2025 06:23:31 PST</p><p>SHORT TERM, today Friday into the weekend: </p><p>A frontal system will continue to move inland this morning and sweep across the Pacific Northwest throughout the day today, bringing in lowland rain and mountain snow alongside breezy post-frontal onshore winds. </p><p>Snow levels will fall to 3000 ft by late Friday, resulting in snow accumulation through Snoqualmie and Stevens Passes. </p><p>Confidence is high that Puget Sound Convergence Zone showers will form over the central Cascades later today into early Saturday morning which will locally enhance snowfall amounts. </p><p>Latest model guidance shows roughly 7 inches of snow through Snoqualmie Pass and 11 inches through Stevens Pass enhanced by convergence zone shower activity, and a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through early Saturday morning.</p><p>Lower elevations will see drying throughout the day Saturday, with lingering snow showers over the Cascades under moist northwest flow aloft. <p>This is the Forecast Discussion from KSEA / Seattle WA NWS at Wednesday 01/22/2025 06:36:12 PST</p><p>SHORT TERM, today Wednesday into Friday: </p><p>Satellite imagery shows high clouds streaming over the area. Stratus spilling out of the Strait of Georgia covering the San Juans and northern slopes of the Olympics. The stratus is as far south as Port Ludlow at 3 am/11z.</p><p>Areas of freezing fog formed after midnight in the Southwest Interior and South Puget Sound. Temperatures were in the mid 20s to mid 30s.</p><p>Upper level ridge remaining in place over the area today with some high clouds moving through the ridge. Stratus and freezing fog not very deep and will dissipate by midday. Highs in the lower to mid 40s.</p><p>Ridge beginning to weaken tonight and retrograde westward as a shortwave moves over the top of the ridge into Haida Gwaii around 12z Thursday.
