A haiku is a traditional Japanese poetry form consisting of three lines.

The dead hedge behind the compost bays on the plot.

There’s a wooden hedgehog house in the middle of it providing some shelter hopefully to a pair of hedgehogs.

Robins regularly perch on the dead hedge branches. The dead hedge is habitat to many species of insects and visiting wildlife. #Allotment #Wildlife #Gardening #Biodiversity

A dead hedge of various wooden branches, brambles and hedge trimmings are held in place in between eight wooden stakes hammered into the ground. There are four stakes on either side of the dead hedge. A blue shed is just beyond the dead hedge. Behind the dead hedge are bamboo canes which are stored vertically inside the pallets of two compost bays.

A wooden inclined passageway is the entrance to a wooden hedgehog house. A dead hedge is built around the hedgehog house giving it some security. Various sticks, branches and bramble stems can be seen over the top of the covered passageway. The hedgehog house itself is raised off the ground to reduce any possible water logging allowing it to remain warmer and more durable.

A red breasted European robin is perched on a branch of a dead hedge. Various sticks, branches and brambles make up the bulk of the dead hedge. A pair of wooden stakes are just visible either side of the dead hedge to keep it in place.
