A young woman who rents out cats to lonely old folks finds her life turned upside down when a young man from her past shows back up in her life.

光雄（风间俊介 饰）一心想要成为一名拳击手，为此付出了自己全部的精力和时间，希冀有朝一日能够获得世界冠军的荣耀。某日，光雄的哥哥（鹤野刚士 饰）将两只小猫托付给了光雄照顾，它们一只名叫小黑，另一只叫小叽。
一心一意精进拳术的光雄从来就没有过照顾小动物的经验，所以刚开始的时候，他完全不能够适应生活里多了这样两个“小捣蛋鬼”。然而，随着时间的推移，再加上“猫咪学者”小梅（松冈茉优 饰）的帮助，光雄和小猫之间的关系越来越亲密起来。在一场比赛中，光雄意外受伤，这严重的伤势令他无法再继续他的拳击梦想，霎时间，光雄的人生失去了全部的希望和意义。

老校长森衣恭一（尾形一成 饰）在妻子去世之后过着离群索居的生活，个性古板而又顽固的他将自己的全部精力都投入到了俄罗斯文学的翻译工作之中。唯一还在和恭一走动的，除了经常给他带来各种资料的社工小鹿祥吾（染谷将太 饰）外，就只有一只可爱的小猫咪了。
这只小猫是恭一的太太生前喂养的流浪猫，它每天都会准时准点的出现在恭一家的院子里，于是恭一接替了太太的工作，成为了小猫的下一任“铲屎官”。某日，恭一发现小猫已经好几天没有出现了，对小猫已经产生了很深厚的感情的他决定走出家门，踏上寻找小猫的旅途。
