20世纪90年代，不同世代的中国人在改革开放的春风沐浴下，怀着对未来的美好憧憬走出国门。他们跨海东渡，来至岛国日本。异国他乡，言语不通，他们深藏心中的种种苦楚与对故乡的思念，一步一步脚踏实地朝着梦想迈进。这些人中，有的百折不挠，艰苦求学；有奔波学校、住处和打工地之间，电车成了暂且休息的小小温床；有的为了女儿的未来外出八年，承受着常人难以想象的生活重压；有的则以黑户身份逡巡在东京的阴暗角落，依靠中国人的“聪明才智”在这座繁华大都市搜寻生机；有的则小小年纪背起书包进入日本人的小学，展开她小小留学生的旅程。芸芸众生相，凝聚成不可磨灭的留学回忆……
本片由演员出身的张丽玲主持拍摄，张现任日本大富电视台社长。

欢乐轻快的音乐，五颜六色的灯光，令人叹为观止的高飞动作和各种惊险有趣的表演，这是马戏团留给大多数人的印象。然而在欢笑惊叹之余，却很少有人关注这些马戏演员们所付出的艰辛。2004年，一支摄制组来到了位于闵行区程家桥路的上海市马戏学校。此时学校内的气氛颇为紧张，为了备战半年后举行的全国杂技比赛，学校上下全部动员起来。两个主要参赛项目——空中飞人和三人摞顶的教练与学员更是不得放松。在接下来的一年里，平实的镜头真实记录下这群正处于花季的孩子们充满艰辛的童年……

The documentary film Dragon Girls tells the story of three young Chinese girls training to become Kung Fu fighters, far away from their families, at the largest Kung Fu school in China. These girls, in a crowd of 26,000 children, are under constant pressure to conform to the norms and structures. They are turned into fighting robots and yet, if you look behind the curtain, you see children with dreams and aspirations. It show the controversial world of selection of the fittest in a totalitarian system.

The film tells a story of a divorced couple trying to raise their young son. The story follows the boy for twelve years, from first grade at age 6 through 12th grade at age 17-18, and examines his relationship with his parents as he grows.

Documentary about Chinese higher education: the pressure to get into state-sponsored schools, and the marketing of private colleges that may not provide the education they promise.
