这是一本回忆录式的手记，详细记录了《Leslie的所有》和《庆》这两本写真集采访拍摄期间，作者与张国荣的交往和交流。其中有不少记录都是独家发表，展示了一个“不一样的张国荣”。
志摩女士从“熟人之上，朋友之下”的立场出发，详细回忆了与Leslie共事三年间的点滴——从两本写真集的策划制作、东京大阪香港等地签名会的筹办，到其间一同经历的电影《流星语》的拍摄、“热情”演唱会的世界巡回演出，还有私下闲聊中涉及的话题，大到对于香港电影界的评价、对媒体的看法、导演梦想的实践，小到家宅装饰、衣着格调、对于食物的口味、甚至关于胡子的争论……力求用自己的描述为读者还原出一个形象丰富饱满的张国荣。
由于观察角度的设定，志摩女士关注较多的是张国荣为人的一面。因此在《张国荣的时光》这本手记中，张国荣更多是被当作一个普通人而非明星或偶像来探讨。不同于一般的名人明星传记，在这本书内没有历史式的描述，没有二手资料，仅仅集中在志摩女士和张国荣交往的“时光”，以第一人称的角度，“把我所见过的事实、状况以及Leslie的言行，尽量不夹带个人感情地，以一个旁观者的身份去描述出来”。志摩女士没有像fans般地“神化”张国荣，反而视他为一个常人，一个有喜怒哀乐、同样有着优点和缺点的普通人，这样的张国荣更贴近生活、更有真实感，所以，特别令人感动。用她自己的话说，“这本手记记录的是我眼前的Leslie真实的姿态，是我看到的一个真实的Leslie。”其中有不少记录都是独家发表，为读者展示了一个“不一样的张国荣”。
