Numidian queen Afra is sold as a slave to the Patrician, Marcellus. The dusky beauty is compelled to become the nurse of little Lucinia, the daughter of Marcellus. One day a party of Numidian's tribe, happening along, recognize her and carry her off, with little Lucinia. Setting out in a galley, a band of Roman warriors pursue them but fail to capture the fugitives. Lady Marcellus makes an offering at the shrine of the Goddess of the Sea, and in a visitation sees her little child with a slave in a strange place. She sets out with her retinue for the spot indicated, and is rewarded by the assistance of the sea nymphs, who restore Lucinius to her mother.

The Airship Destroyer is playing on the ever-recurring fear of invasion. All the same, the futuristic aspect of the threat makes it very original. For that matter, this film is subject to a particular destiny.
Six years after being first shown, it is projected again in 1915. At that time, the terror of zeppelin air raids hangs over England. Several bombings claim very many lives in Yarmouth and King’s Lynn. London is also aimed at. It is only in 1917 that the creation of anti-airship incendiary bullets and of a special regiment in the Royal Air Force contains the deadly raids. 1,500 British subjects are victims of this modern war instrument foreshadowed in this film.
The airships are made using special effects. The animation and the models are the work of a master: the underestimated Walter. R. Booth. Before even contributing to the early stages of cinema, Booth exercises his creativity and exuberant imagination as an amateur magician. From 1889 on, he produces films containing “tricks” that allow him to combine traditional drawing and animation techniques. His taste for science fiction feeds on numerous inspirations, particularly on the French Georges Méliès and Jules Verne.
In 1906, Booth joins the Charles Urban Trading Company. This producing company favors films that cover news, travel, science and natural history. Its founder, Charles Urban, born in the United States to German emigrant parents, radically develops cinema in England. His company supports Booth who sets up his studio in his garden of Isleworth. However, after a few years, Booth gives up and takes on advertising. His work remains unfortunately ignored, as does the rest of his career.
The original element is a dyed print on nitrate film base, which went from a private collection to the Deutsche Kinemathek in the sixties. It was reprinted at the Studio Cine laboratory using the Desmet color restoration system in 2003.

A greedy tycoon decides, on a whim, to corner the world market in wheat. This doubles the price of bread, forcing the grain's producers into charity lines and further into poverty. The film continues to contrast the ironic differences between the lives of those who work to grow the wheat and the life of the man who dabbles in its sale for profit.

A short, cautionary tale of emigrating to America.

Adonese is returning home from seeing the woman he is courting, and he is driving around a corner when his car accidentally brushes against the tramp 'Faithful' and knocks him over. Feeling sorry for him, Adonese helps him up and buys him a new suit of clothes. The naively innocent Faithful reads too much into this gesture, and he begins to follow his benefactor everywhere, expecting to receive future gifts.

Anna, a beautiful girl from a poor background, is offered a well-paid position as a lady's companion in London. Anna's boyfriend, the sceptical Georg, suspects that the job offer is too good to be true, but Anna dismisses him and reports to the London address. The stately home in England turns out to be a whorehouse that imports women from Denmark. Anna manages to overpower her first client but is unable to escape.

During the Civil War a young soldier loses his nerve in battle and runs away to his home to hide; his sister puts on his uniform, takes her brother's place in the battle, and is killed. Their mother, not wanting the shameful truth to become known, closes all the shutters (hence the film's title) and keeps her son's presence a secret for many years, though two boyhood chums stumble upon the truth...

Magda, a piano teacher, meets Knud, a parson’s son, who invites her to spend the summer at his parents’ parsonage. When a travelling circus stops in the village, Magda leaves the meek Knud for the dashing circus rider Rudolf. One of the first epics on the History of Movies, it tells the story of the Fall of Troy: Paris seduces Helen, queen of Sparta, and takes her to Troy, city state of his father, King Priam. The Greeks declare war against the Trojans, and after ten years of siege finally manage to invade the city with a wooden horse.

This film shows the realistic battle scenes of the Siege of Moscow, with the sensational defeat of Napoleon, with the belching cannon, the battling soldiers, scenes of heroism and daring reproduced in the most exquisite photography.

Secret agent Tom Ware is given an important message to deliver to Russia. However a spy steals the message and Tom must retrieve it.

When he saves her from a deadly fire, his feelings are reciprocated by the young woman, who immediately accepts his marriage proposal. To spite the mayor's disapproval of the liaison between his daughter and the poor artist, the tightrope walker prepares a sensational but dangerous act, that will make him worthy of his bride.
