Mia is a rebellious teenager on the verge of being kicked out of school. Her hard-partying mother, Joanne, neglects Mia's welfare in favor of her own, and her younger sister hangs out with a much older crowd. Sparks fly between Mia and Connor, Joanne's new boyfriend, and he encourages Mia to pursue her interest in dance. As the boundaries of the relationships become blurred, Mia and Joanne compete for Connor's affection.

Crumb director Terry Zwigoff’s first film is a true treat: a documentary about the obscure country blues musician and idiosyncratic visual artist Howard “Louie Bluie” Armstrong, member of the last known black string band in America. As beguiling a raconteur as he is a performer, Louie makes for a wildly entertaining movie subject, and Zwigoff honors him with an unsentimental but endlessly affectionate tribute. Full of infectious music and comedy, Louie Bluie is a humane evocation of the kind of pop-cultural marginalia that Zwigoff would continue to excavate in the coming years.

A silk factory worker is persuaded to support her son's education up to a college level despite their poverty. Many years later, she travels to Tokyo to visit her son.

During the Nazi uprising in 1939, they have captured prominent Czechoslovakian scientist Axel Bomasch and his adult daughter Anna Bomasch. Despite the senior Bomasch having escaped to England before the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia, the Nazis were able to discover his hiding location in part due to an elaborate ruse using Anna, who at the time was imprisoned in a concentration camp, and Karl Marsen, a Gestapo officer posing as a fellow camp prisoner. Dickie Randall, an English officer using the code name Gus Bennett, decides to mount his own rescue of the Bomasches posing as a S.S. major. Anna feels she has no other choice but to go along with whatever Bennett tells her in an effort to escape from the Nazis, despite she not fully trusting him due to his seemingly cavalier attitude. Bennett and the Bomasch's ability to escape may be placed into jeopardy by two Englishmen traveling on the same night train to Munich

In Memphis, Tennessee, over the course of a single night, the Arcade Hotel, run by an eccentric night clerk and a clueless bellboy, is visited by a young Japanese couple traveling in search of the roots of rock; an Italian woman in mourning who stumbles upon a fleeing charlatan girl; and a comical trio of accidental thieves looking for a place to hide.

Dark, fast-paced symmetry in mixed weave of tones moving from oranges & yellows to blue-greens, then retreating (dissolves of zooming away) to both rounded and soft-edged shapes shot with black. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2013.

Multiple thrusts and then retractions of oranges, reds, blues, and the flickering, almost black, textural dissolves suggesting an amalgam approaching script. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2013.
