Darren Meadows is 27. He has his routine, he has his immaculate apartment, and he has his mind. He also has Aspergers. Throughout his life he has found very few people who have understood him, so he has sequestered himself from the world. When he reached out in the past he was hurt so badly that he shut down, stopped even trying to connect with them. He finds comfort in facts-facts don't change, technology-computers are built with logic boards, and consistency-like the rhythm of the crashing waves on the beach. It is there at the beach (after a minor computer meltdown causing a major frustrating blow-up) that he suddenly finds himself forced to connect with someone: a female someone, who has found an injured bird. Darren feels compelled to help her and as a result starts feeling emotions he thought he had buried, destroyed, obliterated from his consciousness. Darren Meadows is falling in love.

In the near future, sentient robots are targeted for elimination after they develop emotional symmetry to humans and a revolutionary war for their survival begins.

重启剧《夏威夷神探 Magnum P.I.》风格上类似《天堂执法者 Hawaii Five-0》，背景同样设在夏威夷，不过主角们是私家侦探，老版在1980-1988年播出。新版由Peter Lenkov及Eric Guggenheim负责剧本﹑林诣彬执导，在这版本主角 仍然是四人帮，不过不像旧版都是男性，而是改为三男一女；剧情讲述Thomas Magnum（Jay Hernandez饰）是获授勋的前海豹突击队成员，从阿富汗回国后他把自己的军事技能投放在当私家侦探上，而他的拍档包括前老兵Theodore “TC” Calvin及Orville “Rick” Wright，以及被除名的前MI6特工Juliet Higgins，他们一同调查各种奇怪的案件。
Perdita Weeks饰演Juliet Higgins，是作家Robin Masters的夏威夷物业管理人，Thomas在剧中表面上为Robin当安保并住在他的客房。Juliet擅长指挥﹑自信﹑坚强，口头上爱吐糟。Zachary Knighton饰演Rick，前海军陆战队舱门射手（直升机枪击手）的他现在经营着欧胡岛最受欢迎的夜总会；主角与他关系密切，因为三名男主都曾在伊拉克成为战俘。而在夏威夷，Rick则是协助主角找东西的最佳选择。Stephen Hill饰演Theodore “TC” Calvin，前海军陆战队直升机机师，他经营着夏威夷最小但亦最优质的直升机导览公司「Island Hoppers」；因皆当过战俘的关系，TC成了Thomas最忠诚的朋友之一。
