「認知障礙症」是多種令腦部功能不正常地衰退疾病的統稱，患者會因大腦神經細胞病變而導致大腦功能衰退，認知能力會因患病而逐漸退化，例如記憶力、語言能力、視覺空間判斷力、執行能力、計算和決策能力等，而日常生活、行為及情緒亦會受到影響。認知障礙症患者多為長者，香港面對人口老化問題，因此認知障礙症患者亦隨之增加。現時，全球每3秒便有1人確診認知障礙症，而本港每10名70歲或以上長者，便有1名是認知障礙症患者，85歲以上人士的患病比率更高達三分一，情況不容忽視。

《歲月不忘情》希望藉着戲劇節目傳授認知障礙症的知識，讓觀眾全方位認識「認知障礙症」之餘，亦喚起大家對患者和照顧者身、心、靈健康的關注。期望各界以行動支持，攜手建設「認知無障礙」社區，讓患者及其照顧者獲得關懷、支持和接納。
