Botchan (Kazunari Ninomiya) has sense of strong justice and does not lie. He is offered a teaching job at a middle in a small village far away from his hometown of Tokyo. Botchan accepts the position and begins to work as a math teacher. The assistant principle there wields absolute power. Botchan has a hard time dealing with his fellow teachers and the students.

連続ドラマ枠をバラエティ枠に移行する形でスタートした番組で、この時間帯での同局のバラエティ番組は『ここがヘンだよ日本人』（2001年4月 - 2002年3月）以来6年ぶりとなる（『ここがヘンだよ日本人』は元々、1998年10月 - 2001年3月まで水曜日の同時刻に放送されていた番組だが2001年4月から水曜の同時間枠が連続ドラマ枠になったため、木曜の同時刻に移動した）。
また嵐は本番組がプライムタイムの1時間枠でのバラエティ番組初司会となった。ちなみに、タイトル名は『ひみつのアッコちゃん』をもじったもの。
番組はスタジオ収録はハイビジョン制作だが、ロケVTRは4:3のSD制作になっており、VTRはデジタル放送で画面両サイドに典型的な黒帯が入る。また全編ロケ企画の場合は全般に渡ってSD制作になり、ハイビジョン制作にはなっていない。
2009年10月からフジテレビが『VS嵐』を同じく木曜日の19時台に枠移動させたため、嵐は木曜日のプライムタイムに2本レギュラー番組を持つこととなった。一方、本番組と裏番組になる関係からフジテレビ『木曜劇場』枠のドラマ出演者チームは『VS嵐』に出演していない。
番組が始まってからしばらくの間、視聴率は裏番組を相手に苦戦していたが、2009年10月頃からは10%前後で推移するようになる。しかし、2012年に入ってからは再び1桁台の回が目立つようになってきた[4]。また、『木曜劇場』で『医龍-Team Medical Dragon-』、『BOSS』といった人気ドラマシリーズが放映される期間は視聴率が大幅に低下する傾向がある。
2012年5月31日から『マネキンマストアイテム対抗戦』開始に伴い、番組連動データ放送も開始した。
2012年7月19日より、直前の21:54 - 22:00枠に『もうすぐ嵐ちゃん!』が設けられているが、新聞欄やEPG番組表では別番組扱いとなっている。

由于父亲涌井勇吉（寺尾聪 饰）长年被派驻国外，儿子涌井拓郎（二宫和也 饰）经常遭人欺负，叛逆之下，成为了飙车族的成员。在一次驾驶中，因和母亲（大竹忍 饰）发生争执导致车祸发生，母亲当场死亡。得知爱妻去世的消息，勇吉伤心不已，辞去了工作，在爱妻的故乡富野良的一个森林中开了一家叫做“森时计”的咖啡厅。而拓郎则由母亲生前好友朋子（余贵美子 饰）介绍到一家叫“皆空窑”的窑厂学习陶艺。勇吉对儿子心中怀有怨恨，而拓郎也自觉无颜见到父亲。二人虽然距离很近，2年间却没有任何联系。这样的关系被拓郎偶然结识的少女皆川梓（长泽雅美 饰）所打破，而梓正好又在森时计打工。

Young public prosecutor Keiichiro Okino is assigned to the department of the Tokyo Public Prosecutors Office that deals with violent cases, where he will work with Takeshi Mogami, whom he admires. When a money lender is killed and it is suspected that someone from Mogami’s past is the perpetrator, the team prepares to do his best in order to prove the alleged criminal’s guilt.

One of the hottest selling tickets in town is to see the hugely popular “rakugoka”, or comic storyteller, Danshun. Danshun himself was inspired as a little boy to become a rakugoka after seeing the legendary Danshi. He had found his calling. After his resistant parents relented to their son’s pleas, Danshun at age 17 became an apprentice of Danshi, the man dubbed a “wunderkind” and “genius” of the rakugo world. He soon realized however how hard the training was, and embarked upon a rigorous existence in which he had to deliver newspapers to earn a living. Living with hardship and joys, Danshun and his fellow apprentices would eventually rise in the rakugo world. A resplendent cast comes together to depict the rough and tumble world of a man who loved rakugo above all else and was destined to fulfill a dream.
