幕末的江户，终日打架斗殴、被称作“刺头”的土方岁三，与近藤勇、山南敬助、冲田总司等人命运般相遇，在试卫馆第一次获得了如同“家人”般的羁绊。后来，他与在江户掀起血雨腥风的辻斩魔冈田以藏展开生死决斗，在刀光剑影中结下无可替代的友情，并约定日后再战。

本剧改编自橋本エイジ和梅村真也的同名原著漫画。

Sakura, a young delinquent used to being shunned because of his half-white hair, arrives at Furin High School with the aim to become the top brawler. The school is ruled by the Bofurin, or "Wind Breakers", an honorable street gang who keeps the local shopping street safe and is loved by the locals. For the first time in his life, Sakura is accepted by someone and finds himself fighting for the sake of others, instead of believing that relying on others is a weakness. A compressed adaptation of the first four volumes of the manga (or the first ten episodes of the TV anime).
