两个胆大妄为的小偷光天化日之下破窗而入，闯入一位绅士的家中。正当他们伺机行窃之时，突然传来了开门声，两人连忙躲进大衣柜中。绅士（Georges Méliès 乔治•梅里爱 饰）进屋，发现窗户玻璃破碎，地上还有小偷留下的破雨伞，心知不妙，连忙四下寻找，却没找到躲藏起来的小偷。大怒的绅士叫来女佣，将其臭骂一顿，然后喊来玻璃匠，为窗户安装新的玻璃。
趁这空当儿，两个贼偷偷从衣柜里溜出，没想到走错房门，竟溜进了浴室。俩贼正发愁之际，感到疲惫的绅士却走进浴室，打算洗澡解乏，走投无路的两人只好钻进浴缸里，能躲一时是一时……

熙熙攘攘的大街上，一个小商贩（Georges Méliès 乔治•梅里爱 饰）正在街角叫卖他的万能强力胶。两名无聊的警察为了解闷，驱散围观的人群，搅乱了他的生意后扬长而去。愤怒的商贩拎着胶水追了上去，趁两人睡觉的时候将他们的袖子黏在了一起。惊醒的警察七扭八歪，乐坏了路人，他们恼羞成怒，脱掉上衣追赶商贩。
二人捉住商贩，按住在后背刷上胶水，将他黏在一扇大门上。围观群众乐不可支，商贩只得低声告饶。众人合力将他从门上拔下来，没留神扯掉裤子上的一块布，再次成为众人的笑柄。这令商贩又羞又气……
