豪华的怀梅阿大酒店位于夏威夷瓦胡岛的北海滩，接待着来自世界各地的富豪和各界名流。老板文森特雇用连锁豪华酒店的老板沃尔特·布思的女儿、纽约女子尼科尔为新一任客户服务部主任。她的到来令怀梅阿大酒店的总经理杰森万分惊讶，杰森和尼科尔曾是昔日恋人，此时的尼科尔已经和别人订了婚。
年轻女子泰萨和男友罗伊住进酒店，把客房破坏得不成样子。罗伊一大早就离开酒店，杰森和尼科尔把仍在睡梦中的泰萨赶出酒店。杰森在海边发现了孤独无助的泰萨，不禁心生怜悯，将泰萨带回酒店当清洁工。
负责评选十佳豪华酒店的奥哈西来到怀梅阿大酒店。文森特吩咐杰森小心行事，而奥哈西却提出了非分的要求。文森特准备放弃，却发现泰萨的服务令奥哈西赞赏不已。于是，泰萨顺利地从清洁工升为前台助理接待员。
为了避免年轻人的聚会给酒店带来麻烦，文森特吩咐杰森不要给年轻人提供聚会场所。不知情的尼科尔给了一个名叫德里克的小伙子一个房间，险些出了人命。文森特怪罪下来，杰森承担了全部责任，尼科尔非常感动。
尼科尔的生日就要到了，尼科尔的好朋友、交际花伊娃·拉蒂斯带着一群朋友从纽约赶来要在酒店为她举办一场盛大的生日晚会。尼科尔和杰森怕伊娃生事，建议取消聚会，文森特断然拒绝，并让杰森负责筹备工作。伊娃得知尼科尔已经和杰森分手，便设法勾引杰森，尼科尔十分不悦。晚会上，伊娃躲进帐篷过毒瘾被服务员MJ发现，两人发生争执，尼科尔不惜说谎替MJ打掩护……
