The Bad Boy-- a didactic story based on motives from a Anthony Chekhov's short story "Cyganka".
Two lovers are being observed in a park by a meddler boy. He blackmails them and swindles money for keeping a secret. Marrigae is the only way of getting free of the intruder.

The original movie prepared by the Polish Television for the celebration of August 80 events. Film consists 13 etudes realized by prominent Polish directors, who share their reflections connected with 25. anniversary of NSZZ "Solidarity". Every etude is the stand-alone artistic statement, different in form and the content. Some have documental character, other are plot based shorts, one is even realized as a video clip. Mockery shuffles with pathos, seriousness with grotesque, nostalgia and emotion with disappointment, sorrow and anger. They present rather bitter view on polish latest history. Distorted ideals, lost heroes, unnecessary symbols - it shouldn't be this way. But though the movement didn't stamped its influence on the society, and young generation think about the "Solidarity" more often in the category of careerists and dirty politics than democracy and justice, it was the time of social unity, hope and belief, which majority of us never before experienced, and probably won't never again.
Juliusz Machulski - Sushi

In the second short story, Andrzej Jakimowski's "Bag", in the train, two thieves (Krzysztof Kiersznowski, Rafał Guźniczak) steal a fellow-traveller's (Leszek Żurek) bag. To their disappointment, there are only "Solidarity" leaflets copied on the duplicator in it.
Jerzy Domaradzki - Blackboards
Jerzy Domaradzki's document "Boards" tales a history of the boards, on which - with help of two students (Bartek Turzyński, Daniel Zawadzki) - strikers from Danzig's Shipyard made a list of their postulates, and they hung it on a shipyard's gate.
Jan Jakub Kolski - The Great Bear
Action of Jan Jakub Kolski's short takes place in the summer of 1980 in Italian Alps. Three young Polish cavers, Janek (Maciej Zakościelny), Rudy (Cezary Łukaszewicz) and Staszek (Eryk Lubos), during exploration of the cave become imprisoned under the ground. While waiting for help, they find out from colleagues about signature of August agreements. It becomes pretext to conversation about socio-political situation in Poland, their hopes and dreams. One of them, student Janek, is the later director of this short.

The hero of "Ball pen", Janusz (Waldemar Czyszak), wants to earn on huge, plastic ball pens with pope's picture, however nobody wants to buy them.
Filip Bajon - Petrol
In etude "Petrol" in August 1980 two young men: Tomek (Maciej Stuhr) and Filip (Marcin Dorociński) meet in the train going to coast. Both read Tadeusz Konwicki's "Small Apocalypse". Filip transports with him a can of petrol. During a conversation Tomek gets to suspect that his fellow-traveller wants to commit suicide by the self-immolation. In fervent words he tries to stop him.
Krzysztof Zanussi - Tanks
In documental etude "Tanks" Krzysztof Zanussi comes back to time, when he realized John Paul II's biography - "From a Far Country" in the winter of 1981 in Cracow. The probability of Soviet armies entering Poland caused, that when in one scene extras had to put on Soviet and German uniforms, all hands drew out for German.
Robert Glinski - Scenery
Robert Gliński's "Scenery" portrays the Danzig Shipyard as a depressing metaphor of what happened with "Solidarity". Rusting halls, empty docks, litter raised by wind. Only foreign trips go around historical cradle of the union. Former workers are in the majority unemployed.

Andrzej Wajda - Man of Hope
"Man of hope" is a record of the "Man of Iron" creator and main performers - Krystyna Janda and Jerzy Radziwiłowicz - with Lech Wałęsą in a great, empty hall of Danzig cinema Neptun. In 1980, while congratulating Andrzej Wajda his movie about August events Wałęsa encouraged him to film up next one - the "Man of hope". Film hasn't been yet made. What would it be about if filmed nowadays?
Malgorzata Szumowska - Father
Cycle of "Solidarity" etudes is closed by the fabularised document "Father" by Małgorzata Szumowska, in which archival materials set by her father, well-known documentalist are used. Thirty-year woman (Maja Ostaszewska) tells how "Solidarity" altered the life of her family, and especially father (Kazimierz Borowiec), idealist, who hasn't gained any profits and honors like many other oppositionists, but his daughter can live in a free country.

When You Sleep-- a filming of Tadeusz Kubiak's poems about the jobs being done by the adults in the night in order to secure the normal routine of the day.

Takes place in a prewar Poland. A tubercular young man comes to stay with his brother on a farm. He is in love with life and constantly plays 1930's music on a piano. He gets involved with his brother's problems and also becomes the lover of a simpleminded farm girl. The brother's dead wife may have had an affair with the hired man who is to marry the farm girl. His daughter will not confirm his suspicions. But the brother's death leads to his acceptance of the past, forgiving his wife's memory and making up with his little daughter.

In the novel The Master and Margarita by the Russian author Mikhail Bulgakov, on which the film is based, three story lines are interwoven: a satirical story in which Satan, going by the name of Woland, appears in the Moscow of the 1930s to deal in a hilarious manner with the corrupt lucky ones—the bureaucrats, toadies, poets, and profiteers—in the Stalinist era, a second one describing the internal struggles of Pontius Pilate before, during and after the conviction and crucifixion of Yeshua Ha Nozri (Jesus from Nazareth), and a third telling the story of the love between the "Master," an unnamed writer in Moscow during the 1930s and his beloved Margarita, who goes to extreme lengths to save her beloved. The Master has written a novel about Pontius Pilate, and is persecuted by the authorities and the Soviet literary establishment in the officially and militantly atheist Soviet Union.
The film Pilate and Others only tells the biblical story of the novel: the story of Pontius Pilate and Yeshua Ha Nozri (Jesus from Nazareth).
Differences from the novel
The biblical story of the novel is situated in Jersjalajim, but Wajda transferred it to Germany van de 20ste eeuw in the present time. Levi Matvei is a modern TV reporter who makes reports from Golgotha; Yeshua Ha-Nozri passes Way of the Cross on streets of Frankfurt am Main.

Gates to Paradise is a 1968 film by Polish director Andrzej Wajda. The film is set in medieval France and is based on a story by Polish writer Jerzy Andrzejewski (1960) that seeks to expose the motives behind youthful religious zeal. It was entered into the 18th Berlin International Film Festival.
In 1212, a Children's Crusade is launched after Jakob (John Fordyce) claims to have had a vision in which it is said that the innocence of children would be able to liberate Jerusalem. A monk (Lionel Stander), returning from Jerusalem, joins the crusade and hears the children's confessions, gradually realizing that most of them are taking part not for religious, but for more worldly reasons, like rejected love.

A famous Polish journalist presents a problem for the powers-that-be when he displays his full political skill and knowledge on a television show featuring questions and answers on a world conference by a panel of journalists. His enemies take away his privileges when he is away. The shock of being "unwanted" parallels a deeper disappointment in his private life: his wife has an affair with a jealous young rival, and after 15 years of marriage and two daughters wants a divorce. She offers no explanations as he tries to untie these problems himself. All the moves he makes are the wrong ones. He takes on drinking heavily with students eager to attend his seminar after discovering the class has been canceled. The journalist, once suave and commanding, is reduced to silence.

Nominated for the Golden Palm at the 1969 Cannes Film Festival, this comedy from Polish director Andrzej Wajda stars Zygmunt Malanowicz as Wlodek, a young man stuck in a dead-end job at the local library who lives with his harridan wife and critical in-laws in a small apartment. When Wlodek draws the interest of a library patron, the beautiful young woman encourages him to strive for better things in his life and professional career. Later claiming to have been reacting to personal issues in his own life, Wajda took an immediate interest in Janusz Glowacki’s screenplay about Wlodok, a henpecked husband, in part “to settle the score with women who try to control men’s lives.” The sensitive writer and translator running from his wife and mother-in-law encounters Irena (Malgorzata Braunek), a very modern, very demanding lady, and soon discovers that you should be careful what you wish for. A social satire of romantic and sexual mores much like Innocent Sorcerers, Hunting Flies is both more personal yet less richly detailed. Wajda was nevertheless satisfied with Braunek’s performance, calling her “…a perfect choice. With her broad grin and terrifying eyes magnified by huge glasses, she aptly conveyed the image of a carnivorous fly hunter as conceived by Glowacki in his script.” Also look for a superb cameo by Daniel Olbrychski, Wajda’s post-Cybulski protégé.

From Joseph Conrad's great novel comes the story of a young seaman trying to helm a damaged boat to Singapore and dealing with many unfortunate events. While on command of the situation, he also devotes himself to help his failing crew and some of the boat's many passengers, some of them who are in poor health conditions.

Romance brings two warring families together in this historical drama. As citizens fight for independence in 1810s Lithuania, Tadeusz, the son of a murderer, and Zosia, a young woman, come together for a wedding against a backdrop of changing politics, ancient traditions, and the uncertain future of a country.
