The once famous and well respected scientist Zorndyke has bred a new genre of living being, one that thrives on the oceans and lives to destroy humans. Zorndyke believes it is time that the humans were relieved of their rule of the earth. It is up to Blue Submarine No. 6 and the rest of the Blue fleet to put an end to Zorndyke's madness and creations.

Tsubomi Hanasaki is a girl in the second grade of middle school who likes flowers and plants. One day she experiences a weird dream. In that dream, a large blooming tree appears. Suddenly it is losing all of its flowers and a fairy appears. A few days later after Tsubomi has transferred to Meidou Gakuen, suddenly the fairy from the dream appears before her and pleads to Tsubomi to become the legendary warrior Precure and protect the Heart Tree. However, Tsubomi declines as she doesn't think that she would be able to do that. However, a mysterious enemy suddenly strikes and steals the heartflower of Erika Kurumi, Tsubomi's new classmate. Now she doesn't have a choice. To retrieve Erika's heartflower she has to transform into Precure and fight. Working up the courage Tsubomi turns into Cure Blossom and a new chapter of Pretty Cure begins!

香月日輪と前嶋昭人による同題原作ジュブナイル怪談シリーズを全2話で合計約45分のOVA化。本作は2話収録のレンタル版が先行して流通後、1話ずつ収めたセル版ビデオが発売されている。腕っぷしは誰にも負けないイタズラ好きのてつし、ハンサムで頭脳明晰の椎名、そして肝っ玉が小さいものの心根は誰よりも優しいリョーチン。彼ら3人は町内で知らぬ者はいないとさえウワサされる悪ガキトリオ。彼らは不思議な薬屋「地獄堂」でその店主のオヤジと出合ったことを機に、人々をおびやかす幽霊や妖怪たちとの戦いをはじめることに。本作の総監督および演出には「美少女戦士セーラームーン」シリーズの佐藤順一が参加。本作は同年4月に公開された実写特撮映画版に続いてのリリースとなった。

This was aired on Japanese TV shortly after the death note anime was completed, this special basically re-cuts the first 26 episodes of the series into a two hour movie with some new scenes and dialogue added and the story is seen from Ryuk's viewpoint.
