雷蒙· 德巴东周游世界，以结合文本、笔记的形式进行摄影报道，让观众体验真实而又多变的异域风情。德巴东希望能够尽情地探索每个领域与概念，并以这些作为主要元素来进行创作。在2011 年“数学：陌生风景”展上，雷蒙· 德巴东和克洛迪娜· 努加雷创作了电影《数学的快乐》，为参与 项目合作的数学家提供了发言的平台，九位科学家—迈克尔· 阿蒂亚爵士、让- 皮埃尔· 布吉尼翁、卡罗琳娜·卡纳莱斯· 冈萨雷斯、詹卡洛·卢奇尼、阿兰· 孔涅、妮可· 厄尔· 卡露伊、米沙· 格罗莫夫、塞德里克· 维拉尼和唐· 扎吉尔—共同探讨了驱动他们不断探索数学真理的激情之源。艺术家以极理性的手法表现出科学家们极具感性的特质，在其镜头下，科学家们不谈科学与工作，只谈热血与创造。

本片以一种目击者的姿态，透过一连串对人物的特写，带领观者进入这群农人们的生活，理解他们的价值观与故事。这群老农夫的生活与土地紧紧相依，这片土地不但是他们的全部，更是他们留给后代子孙的珍贵遗产，但受到全球化的衝击，农村里年轻人或走或留，德帕东透过诗意无边的纪录，质疑这群大地子民未来的模样……
