这部律政题材的衍生剧会以一名二十多岁、有着强迫症却十分出色的律师“Joni”（Kennedy饰演）展开故事；Joni与“Shaun”的交集来自于有一次让他陷入麻烦的官司里，Joni作为辩护律师出现。后门试映集将介绍这个角色以及她隶属律所的合伙人“Janet”（Felicity饰演）出场。
Joni是自己任职的高端律师事务所的旅人，她风趣、热心、有着自我意识偶尔会有些焦虑，她是Shaun法律辩护团队的一员。尽管通过了法学院的学习以及律师考试，但Joni的强迫症依然对她的个人和职业生活造成了严重影响。她不希望因为自己的病情而被区别对待，但也经常为自己的症状感到尴尬。Joni是位伟大的律师，利用自己对细节的关注、强迫性的过度思考和分析能力作为独特的杀手锏行事。但律所试图因为她的种种奇怪行为而考虑解雇她时，Joni又胁迫用残疾人法案起诉律所。

考虑到《良医》本身就改编自韩剧，再加上如今的剧情企划，这部衍生剧此前曾被指与通过Netflix全球范围走红的《非常律师禹英禑》有着很相近的调性；不过《良律》早在该剧开播前就已经策划。

在第四季的首播集中，疾病大流行已延烧数月，剧集将通过肖恩·墨菲的观点，阐述全球医务人员正面对新冠疫情的挫败感，令人喘不过气的不确定性、危险和失败。
