This video is not your typical collection of music videos. Rather than being simply a straightforward presentation of videos, Single Video Theory also contains footage of the band members recording their album in the studio. The camera captures the actual recording sessions as well as the band members chatting candidly about their concept and ideas for the music. Directed by Mark Pellington and shot in 16mm over 3 days in 1997.

Korean War--era veterans and ex-classmates "Gunner" Casselman and "Sonny" Burns reunite upon their return home. Gunner, who spent the war years abroad, is trying to convince his mother that his gal Marty is good enough for him, while Sonny, who was stationed stateside, is torn between loyal Buddy and tempting Gale Ann. As they commiserate, the men realize that they're outgrowing the lives they lived before the war.

獨立電影界的年度盛事－日舞影展（Sundance Film Festival）的參展影片已經開始在影展舉行地－猶他州公園市放映了，上週末票房反應最熱烈的不是什麼風格特殊劇本突出的好萊塢獨立電影，而是一部來自都柏林的3D立體電影，而且這部電影甚至還不是一部劇情片，而是以一支全球知名超級團體的現場表演為紀錄主題的片子－U2的「U2 3D」。
上星期六「U2 3D」在日舞影展舉行了首映會，現場爆滿的歌迷三不五時激情尖叫的場面不在話下，參與首映典禮的特別來賓也都個個大有來頭，其中包括了日舞影展的創始人、老牌影星、導演勞勃瑞福（Robert Redford）、美國前副總統高爾（Al Gore）、影帝班金斯利（Ben Kingsley）、影星伍迪哈里遜（Woody Harrelson）...等等，為現場增添了不少星光。
「U2 3D」以數位影像拍攝紀錄了U2合唱團從2005到2006年間在南美地區的「Vertigo」巡迴演唱會現場表演實況。導演使用小型3D攝影機快速飛越舞台，彷彿跟著現場觀眾一起搖擺，營造出鮮明的視覺影像。U2的吉他手The Edge說，這是他第一次真正地以觀眾的角度來欣賞U2的演唱會，他說他很驚訝團員們的距離竟然這麼遠，「你的意思是說，你在舞台上很孤單囉？」主唱波諾（Bono）開玩笑地問The Edge，「不是，我是覺得鼓手Larry很孤單。」The Edge回答道。記者問他們為何要選在這個時機用3D的方式來拍攝他們的演唱會實況，The Edge說：「我們經常會問我們自己一個問題：『還有什麼沒做過的？』我們從沒使用3D攝影來拍攝過我們自己的演唱會現場實況，因此我們對這個主意都很感興趣。」總是為弱勢群眾發聲的波諾，則以另一個角度來解釋他們參與這部紀錄片拍攝工作的動機：「U2演唱會的門票票價對某些歌迷來說太貴了些，我們已經盡力地讓票價維持在合理的程度，但是你也知道整個體系的運作是怎麼回事，這樣的票價對於很多中學生或大學生而言，還是負擔不起的。所以我希望那些喜歡我們的歌迷能夠給我們一個機會，讓他們體會一下我們的現場表演呈現出什麼樣的感覺。」
