Carl Cox — Artist (6)
At the End of the Cliché [Music] Douban
release date 1996-07-18 publisher: Edel
Cox's proper studio debut is a soulful, genre-spanning journey through '90s clubland, not unlike his own DJ sets. The Star Wars tug of "Tribal Jedi" and the Goa trance of "Phoebus Apollo" provide variety, while "Musky" and "Yum Yum" are minimalist, acid techno barnstormers. Cox only falters when he ventures into the territory of midtempo trip-hop; thankfully, it doesn't occur often.
