Loran Cehack, a member of the lunar Moonrace, is sent to Earth as a scout for the return of his people to their mother planet. But Earth's rulers have formed a militia to oppose the handover of their land to these aliens. With their outdated biplanes and fighting vehicles, the people of Earth are utterly helpless in the face of the Moonrace invasion and its huge walking robots. Then Loran discovers a relic from the space age, a mobile suit called Turn A, and becomes the last hope of Earth's militia.

第1话 告诉我，老师
草薙桂是住在某个乡下的高中一年级学生，他在某个夜晚目击了一艘宇宙船迫降於湖上的情形。隔天，他的班上新来了一个超级丰满的美女教师「风见瑞穗」，而瑞穗老师的新家刚好就在草薙家隔壁。小桂直到在帮忙她搬运行李时，才发现原来昨晚看到的外星人就是瑞穗，瑞穗虽然用尽各种方法急欲掩饰秘密，但是小桂却极力抵抗……
第2话 我会娶不到老婆的
在非常凑巧的情况下，小桂与瑞穗两人被困在体育用具室里。密室中的尴尬气氛到最後却演变成无比的亲近感，小桂与瑞穗并分别透露了自己的秘密（瑞穗的真正身份是外星人派驻地球的监视员，而小桂则是罹患了一种会导致精神和肉体组织呈现暂时性假死状态的怪病）。两人最後虽然终於获救，但是却不幸被校长发现，为了摆脱校长的质疑，小桂於是便在大家面前说：「其实我是瑞穗的丈夫！」
第3话 这下糟了，老师
小桂与瑞穗因为之前所发生的事，被迫不得不真的要结婚了，这件事他们当然没有在学校公开，不过同学们（漂介、阿跨、小石、小枫、小莓）却注意到了小桂最近态度上的异常。小桂与瑞穗在阿实叔夫妇的见证下，於瑞穗的公寓里举行了小小的婚礼，并从此开始同居生活。但是没想到，漂介他们却刚好在此时跑来小桂家找他……
第4话 或许真的喜欢她
同居了一个星期之後，小桂与瑞穗之间的感情产生了些许的变化。小桂为了要与小石去看电影，於是便取消了原本与瑞穗说好要一起念书的约定，瑞穗在看到小桂与小石出门後感到非常不安，於是便偷偷的跟在他们後面，但最後还是被小桂发现。对於瑞穗的行为以及她的藉口「这是阿实叔要我这麽做的」，小桂感到非常气愤，当他正打算骂瑞穗时，却突然病发陷入了停滞状态……
第5话 这样的老师，我…
在阿实的安排下，小桂与瑞穗终於来到一个南方的小岛渡蜜月，在这里没有人知道他们的秘密。只是没想到，两人才刚到岛上就遇见班上的同学们和山田老师，害得小桂与瑞穗只得凡事保持距离，一个好好的蜜月就这麽毁了。更糟的是，阿跨在夜里走错房间爬到了瑞穗的床上，而且还毛手毛脚了起来，瑞穗以为是小桂回来了，不由得心跳加速红通了脸……
第6话 从头开始
小桂原本计画利用暑假加深两人间的关系，但此时瑞穗的母亲「初穗」与妹妹「真穗」却突然出现了。对於小桂的存在，向来与姊姊很要好的真穗感到十分气愤，因而老是喜欢找小桂的麻烦，最後还把他赶了出去，於是小桂只好回头投靠阿实叔。然而小桂的灾难并未就此结束，真穗竟然企图利用她的传送系统把小桂转移到别的次元空间，让他从此永远在宇宙中漂流……
第7话 老师不要哭
真穗始终无法理解姊姊为什麽会跟比她年纪小、并且看起来瘦弱无力的小桂结婚。真穗相信这背後一定有什麽原因，於是便开始跟踪小桂，最後竟然在放暑假的学校里看到小石与小桂亲昵的场面。瑞穗在知道这件事後伤心地独自啜泣，眼看着姊姊受人欺负，真穗的怒火终於爆发了！她一心盘算着如何将小桂传送到异次元空间……
第8话 漫长之夜
第二学期开学了，瑞穗与小桂两人也从甜蜜的新婚恢复成日常的生活。小莓在发现小石非常羡慕小枫与漂介在一起之後，便开始怂恿小石向小桂告表白，而小桂此时正好因为一些小事与瑞穗吵架，为了刻意让瑞穗感到吃味，小桂於是答应了小石的邀请，并相约在火车站的月台见面……
第9话 结束吧
小石向小桂表白被拒的事一下就传开了，小莓在得知消息後便把小桂找了出来，质问他拒绝小石的理由。小桂看到平时态度向来冷静的小莓竟然如此激动，心中不免感到些许困惑，但也只能诚实地告诉小莓自己的心情与想法，不料小莓却突然在小桂面前倒地不起。没错，原来小莓也跟小桂一样患有「停滞病」……
第10话 可是
为了不让小莓继续停滞，小桂不但离开瑞穗搬回到阿实叔家住，还答应了小莓要与小石交往，但这种虚伪的行为与心情却逐渐腐蚀了他的心。瑞穗非常了解小桂的心情，尽管心里百般的不愿，却也只能默默的在一旁看着他们两人发展。直到亲眼目睹小桂与小石亲吻的场景，瑞穗终於无法抑制自己的悲伤，泪流满面地转身跑开，这时大家才察觉到小桂和瑞穗老师之间不寻常的感情……
第11话 老师
小桂不愿承受现实世界的悲伤，因而再度陷入了停滞状态，任凭瑞穗用尽各种方法就是无法苏醒过来。小桂在昏迷中遇见一位少女，少女一直灌输他现实世界的种种不好，希望小桂跟她一起在永恒的世界中旅行，所幸对於瑞穗老师的牵挂终究还是使小桂回心转意，决定回到有限的现实世界。然而，当小桂苏醒後，瑞穗老师却已经不见了……
第12话 再一次，老师
瑞穗犯了职务上的大忌，因此被银河联盟高层强制送回本部，并且受命不得继续监看小桂的一举一动，而小桂的记忆也被强制封锁，完全忘记了瑞穗的存在。一年後，瑞穗在母亲和妹妹的协助下强行重返地球，并再度当上了小桂那一班的导师，然而这时候的小桂根本不记得她，一切反应与初见面的陌生人无异，瑞穗为此伤心欲绝……
第13话 秘密的俩人
小桂最後终於恢复了对瑞穗的记忆，小俩口又像往日般幸福地生活在一起，小桂也更确定了对瑞穗的爱。只是好景不常，初穗和真穗突然又跑来地球，而且这次是冲着小桂而来的，因为她们两人也都喜欢上了小桂，於是纷纷使出浑身解数来纠缠、诱惑小桂。面对初穗与真穗绵密的攻势，小桂已经慌得不知该如何是好，而瑞穗为了抢回自己的丈夫也不惜与初穗翻脸。这一切已陷入了无法言喻的混乱……

电击文库最畅销的轻小说《魔法禁书目录》曾在2008年10月由J.C.Staff改编成同名TV动画并大获好评，其外传《某科学的超电磁炮》也于09年10月改编成TV动画，相信不少观众早已拜倒在炮姐裙底的安全裤上。5月20日从日本著名的映像出版会社TSUTAYA传出了2010年秋天动画二期的图片。

Academy City is a highly developed place in terms of technology. It is said to be 20 to 30 years ahead of the rest of the world, and 80% of its 2.3 million residents are students. The focus of studies here is directed towards esper powers. Misaka Mikoto, one of the top level espers in town, shares a room with Kuroko Shirai, another high level esper who is a member of Judgement, a law enforcing agency composed of students. The Four Cardinal Heroes are a group of ordinary men from modern-day Japan summoned to the kingdom of Melromarc to become its saviors. The four heroes are respectively bestowed a sword, spear, bow, and shield to vanquish these Waves. Naofumi Iwatani, an otaku, becomes cursed with the fate of being the "Shield Hero." Armed with only a measly shield, Naofumi is belittled and ridiculed by his fellow heroes and the kingdom's people due to his weak offensive capabilities and lackluster personality.

故事内容延续第一部TV版攻壳机动队STAND ALONE COMPLEX的剧情继续发展。但TV版的2部作品与剧场版无甚联系，可以看做是两个平行世界里发生的事情。
这次TV版第2季的制作班底与第一部相同，同时剧情表达上和第一季一样，每话由不同故事构成，各自独立成章，却贯穿着同一条主线。在剧情上同时电影版导演押井守也参与了协力，不过电影版中凄凉的气氛没有在TV版第二季中体现。
