A man tries to avenge the death of his sister, a gambling addict. Another man, an ex-convict who whistles when he commits a crime, is reunited with his blind mother.

An idealistic intern is doing his best to survive a very tough day on the job. When not scurrying from one patient to another, he tries to maintain equilibrium in his romance with a nurse. Comedy dovetails neatly into tragedy, which in turn segues smoothly into heart-tugging pathos.

A mechanical worker and football fanatic finds the meaning of life in encouraging, following and collaborating with the club that he loves, to the point of indefinitely postponing the marriage with his eternal girlfriend.
