September 1898. During a visit to Geneva to see her friend and confidant Doctor Mayer, the Empress Elisabeth of Austria recalls her past. This upbeat adventure tells a lively tale -- devoid of sex and violence -- that the whole family can enjoy. The fairy-tale begins as the beautiful Ana abruptly changes her mind about marriage while standing at the alter of a Caracas church, and boards a flight to Paris carrying only a small suitcase and her favorite poster of Maria Callas. She ends up in a tiny apartment filled with other illegal South American immigrants, one of whom is the strong-willed, self-absorbed video artist Celeste. Ana, who dreams of becoming a famous singer like Callas, soon begins studying voice with an aged Russian gentleman. In another part of town, a filmmaker searches the city for a singer to assume the lead in his forthcoming film version of Rossini's "Cinderella." Ana is at a cafe one day when a gay waiter uses his psychic powers to predict that great things will happen to her. Ana then makes friends with a moody psychiatrist. Behind it all, an African sorcerer works potent magic of his own.

French philosopher Denis Diderot produces the first encyclopedia while indulging in 18th-century decadence.

Magdalena and Maria are two twin sisters who were separated at birth and know nothing of the other’s existence. Maria runs away from the boarding school in which she was brought up and finds work as a cabaret performer in the cafés of Marseilles. Magdalena lives with her adopted parents and works in an art gallery. The two sisters are joined by an invisible bond which draws them towards the same tragic conclusion.
Director Werner Schroeter has acquired a reputation as an experimentalist filmmaker, hailed by some as an underrated genius, reviled by others for being a peddler of self-indulgent kitsch. Deux is arguably Schroeter’s most ambitious, unsettling and repulsive work to date. The director certainly wastes no time in alienating his audience; from the first ten minutes of the film it is clear this is not going to be an easy ride. The narrative cuts haphazardly between seemingly unconnected events, alternating between realism and stylised fantasy dream sequences, periodically shocking the spectator with graphic images of lesbian sex and a woman being slowly disembowelled. Having several actors playing multiple parts only adds to the sense of artifice and utter confusion, which is a pity as there is manifestly a lot of great acting talent on show – not least of which is Isabelle Huppert. The film’s sheer relentless grotesqueness and self-indulgence is so extreme, so unbridled, so stomach-churningly provocative, that it is hard to take any of it seriously.

上世纪40年代，法国一对年轻的夫妇结合了，电影记录了他们数十年的婚姻生活。美容师玛卓琳是一个漂亮单纯的女孩，遇到丹尼尔后，两人陷入热恋，并很快举行了婚礼，一切看起来都很幸福美好，两人最初也确实过着如童话般的甜蜜生活。可是渐渐的，玛卓琳在物质上的要求越来越多，她喜欢高档家具、名牌服装，名贵跑车，高级化妆品，对这些东西的广告和宣传册无法抗拒，而且变得越来越不可收拾。
这和丹尼尔想象中的传统而平静的生活完全不同，因此两个人争吵不断。丹尼尔的家族世代经营玫瑰花的生意，本来可以生活得舒适富足，可是为了给妻子无止境的欲望埋单，丹尼尔夫妇背上了沉重的负债，这也将两人最初的浪漫生活破坏殆尽。导演通过一对普通夫妻的真实生活，赤裸裸地探讨了二战后法国中产阶级家庭中蔓延的物质欲望，对现实生活也起到了一定的警醒作用。

故事从1941年在舒瓦泽集中营的一场囚营赛跑开始，17岁的莫凯在比赛中轻松胜出，赢得一块肥皂。莫凯喜欢住在邻营的女孩奥黛特，常常借故亲近，就连赛跑时都要停下来跟她聊上两句，而奥黛特虽然嘴上说莫凯孩子气，心里对他也很中意。尽管活在囚营中，但生活还是处处充满希望，直到有一天，一名德国军官被地下党枪杀，希特勒决定报复，下令至少处决150名法国囚犯，德军军官们对此不以为然，因为在他们看来，这种愚蠢、过激又盲目的报复只会导致法国百姓的严重抵触，甚至出现哗变。然而希特勒的命令是不容有半点违抗的，无奈之下，军官们只好着手罗列处决名单。

This includes a short introduction by arte, approx. 1:12 secs long, with the film being around 6 minutes itself....there are 2 intertitles in the film itself, giving the latitudanal and longitudanal co-ordinates of the beach. No subtitles required, but ill work on some anyways.
