安土桃山（平干二朗 饰）时代，城主坐拥一方，对自己的容貌、权势以及财富极为自信与得意。然而一则预言却让他忧心忡忡，原来他的儿子雨千代（小田切让 饰）的美颜迟早有一天会超过安土桃山。恼怒的君王邪魔惑心，遂决定将亲生儿子放逐到妖魔横行的快罗须山。途经狸森林时，雨千代得到美丽女孩的帮助，而对方竟然就是来自大唐的狸公主（章子怡 饰）。美貌公子与受到诅咒的公子陷入热恋，可是他们却无法摆脱安土桃山的忌恨与憎恶。为了救助被父王戕害的狸公主，雨千代启程前往快罗须山寻找传说中的极乐蛙。万千艰难险阻，无法割断两颗相恋的心……
本片根据日本古老传说改编，是该故事首次以音乐剧的形式呈现，制作方还利用特殊技术使已经辞世的歌姬美空云雀再现银幕。

『忍びの者 伊賀屋敷』でコンビの直居欽哉と服部佳がシナリオを執筆し、『悪太郎伝 悪い星の下でも』の鈴木清順が監督した任侠ドラマ。昭和初期、東京深川の木場で、1人の男が戸塚組の親分岩松を刺した。この白狐の刺青をした男、白狐の鉄と異名をとる大和田組のヤクザ渡世、村上鉄太郎であった。鉄太郎は、堅気になることを条件に、大和田組組長の命令で岩松を刺したのだった。その足で鉄は、美術学校行きたさに仏具屋に修業にいっている弟健次を訪ねた。弟は、留守であった。帰途鉄は、大和田組の政吉に銃口をつきつけられ、あわやという時、帰ってきた健次がかけつけ、政吉の挙銃を奪い、政吉を射ち殺してしまった。鉄はまだ堅気の弟に傷がつくのを恐れて、自首しようとする健次をともなって、満州へ逃げようとしたが・・・。
