Orphelin depuis son jeune âge, Léo grandit au foyer des Cigales. Fragile, il s'est réfugié dans l'écriture et rêve d'être lu par son idole de toujours, le réalisateur Claude Lelouch. Il passe ses journées avec Nino, jeune adolescent de 12 ans qui réside lui aussi au foyer. Ils sont inséparables, comme deux frères.
Mais un jour Nino disparaît avec la nouvelle que Léo vient de terminer. Il n'a laissé qu'un mot expliquant les raisons de sa fugue : trouver Claude Lelouch et lui apporter l'histoire...
Au fil de son périple, Nino envoie des lettres à Léo, lui contant l'évolution de son aventure. Mais Léo commence à se douter que les raisons de la fugue de son ami, sont d'une autre nature...

The decision she makes is a compromise: for five days, she will leave Munich to take Lars on a getaway, to the island in western France where they usually spend their summer vacation – a place full of fond memories and significance to Lars. Disconcerting parallels emerge between the Vienna apartment and the Swiss chalet. And doesn’t the ice cream seller in the neighbouring town look just like Mischa? Is Anna’s jealousy unfounded, or should she listen to the advice of the talking cat? Is Mischa actually Andrea? Will every question be answered by the end? Wait and see, for the mind games that Tiere allows to play out between Vienna and the Swiss Alps are most sophisticated.

Benjamin Heisenberg 來自科研世家，祖父父親以及不少表姊弟都從事研究工作，耳濡目染下，他精準地在電影裡建立著一份理性氣氛。鏡頭偏冷，演出亦處處是「拘謹魅力」。然而這只是他的量盃、容器，Heisenberg 反覆推論 Johannes 智性解答不了的處境，切志去驗證出其迷惘失衡的內心世界。
其實《沉睡有罪》要釋穿的不是科學家盲從的理性主義，這電影實在反證了當代以反恐為由的失實政治觀。影片結束時，沒有人知道 Farid 的下落，與及他真正的身份，Heisenberg 原來用了極為科學化的測不準原理，去說穿一個沒有真相的政治真相。
