本片改编自小说《桐柏英雄》，在1980年的第三届电影百花奖上获最佳故事片奖。陈冲凭借本片获第三届百花奖最佳女演员奖通以及南斯拉夫第九届“为自由而斗争”电影节最佳女演员奖。
