在美版即将播出的当下，人们十分好奇这一版本与英版有何不同，又能寻求什么突破，是否能够像英版一样大胆肆意的涉及英国青少年接触毒品、性和糜烂生活，又是否依据英版的人物设定，而特别是同性恋观众对于本剧是否保持原版中同性恋角色maxxie也充满好奇，那么单从曝光的预告片来看，以上问题都有了答案，虽然美版《皮囊》的制作并不精良，阵容更不强大，甚至难寻亮点，不过剧组方面表示会尽量原始的触及青少年的不羁生活，而人设会做相应改变，而同性恋角色则不会取消，这是出品方MTV对于同性恋群体的一种尊重。
