While Manolo, employed in a tourism agency in the Costa del Sol, enjoys the foreign babes, his wife suffers at home in the city. Advised by a girlfriend she plans revenge by simulating pregnancy. Una empresa de seguros española es absorbida por una multinacional con sede en los Estados Unidos. "La Susana" es una chica huérfana que sirve en casa de la señora Engracia, una mujer que la recogió en brazos de su madre antes de morir. Allí viven también tres sobrinos de ésta: "la Asunta", "la Trini" y "el lorito" vagos, chulos y que abusan de Susana a su antojo. A ella, ingenua y de buen corazón, la conocen como "la tonta del bote" porque recoge colillas de tabaco y las guarda en una lata para dárselas a un pobre violinista ciego. La señora Engracia, por falta de dinero, decide alquilar una habitación, así aparece Felipe "el postinero", un bailarín al que las malas lenguas le dan fama de conquistador, chulo y mujeriego.

Enrique Vázquez (José Sacristán) sería un abogado normal y corriente de los muchos que hay en España, sino fuera por su extraña obsesión: la erótica de la publicidad. Y nos referimos a la erótica en el sentido literal. Lo que más placer le da a Enrique en este mundo es un buen anuncio, ya sea en el periódico, en la radio o en la televisión. Su neurosis alcanza grandes proporciones y tiene muy preocupada a su esposa (Ana Belén).
