在2001年二月，塔利班政权下令摧毁阿富汗境内所有非伊斯兰的雕像，其中包括已经一千六百年历史的巴米扬山谷Bamiyanvalley巨佛。千餘年来，巴米扬巨佛见证了阿富汗地带的历史变迁，从阿拉伯、波斯、成吉思汗的蒙古大军等，不管历将多少死亡与破坏，没有一个政权大胆地将其毁灭；如今这两尊见证千年历史变迁的巴米扬巨佛被塔利班政权炸毁，之所以让全世界关心政治、历史、宗教的专家学者痛心。
曾获奥斯卡最佳纪录片提名的瑞士导演克里斯钦佛瑞Christian Frei，在事件发生后，四度造访巴米扬，并开始拍摄《阿富汗巨佛生死劫》一片。纪录片採取多重叙事手法製作，追溯几世纪前拜访巨佛的中国玄奘大师的脚步，巴米扬巨佛被摧毁及重建过程，如何影响当地居民、阿富汗移民...并将之与自己前往阿富汗的行程并置，全片挑战不同文化、政治观点呈现。
曾经应邀来台的导演克里斯钦佛瑞表示：「看待巨佛被毁又重建本就有很多观点和争议，所以才要以多线进行的方式，来以对抗基本教义派非黑即白的绝对态度。

A history of the French Revolution beginning from the decision of the king to convene the Etats-Generaux in 1789 in order to deal with France's debt problem. Part one spans the event until August 10, 1792 (when the King Louis XVI lost all authority and was imprisoned). Part two carries the story through the end of the terror in 1794.

This is a brilliant surrealistic film.
But also a fully realistic story about a time when the brave avant-guarde artists were trying to explore the unknown landscapes of human possibilities.
The contrast between two realities: the poor village and the dadaist artists is shown very smart and brings the possibility of changing the world by the art.
Unfortunately, that progressive ideals of making the world better by revealing new areas of imagination, that ruled in the first half of XX century, were crushed by the war.
And, the tragedy finishes: the artistic ideals are dead, international art brotherhood also, but, as a real disaster: Yugoslavia is also dead, as a country, but as an artistic vision of nation's brotherhood, too.
So, the art falls apart

A raw and telling portrait of a people left behind by the modern world, inspired by the work of photographer Martin Martinček - whose pictures of the inhabitants of the Liptov region in central Slovakia, encompassed by the Tatra mountains, distilled entire lifetimes into luminous and intransient images. Dušan Hanák's continuation of these photographs takes the shape of a poetic visual essay, capturing more comprehensive vignettes of their isolated human experiences.
