Based on Frank Miller's graphic novel, "300" is very loosely based the 480 B.C. Battle of Thermopylae, where the King of Sparta led his army against the advancing Persians; the battle is said to have inspired all of Greece to band together against the Persians, and helped usher in the world's first democracy.

作为《机动战士高达》系列史上首部3D作品，《机动战士高达 MS IGLOO 一年战争秘录》OVA三部曲一直让高达迷们津津乐道，其以吉翁军士兵的视点表现战争而展开的出色剧情和3D化表演让习惯了以联邦军作为主角和二维动画人物的高达迷们第一次发现，原来“一年战争”也是能以这种方式表现的。随着《一年战争秘录》三部曲的结束，官方又推出了此系列的第二部作品《机动战士高达 MS IGLOO 默示录0079》，依然延续了《一年战争秘录》中的吉翁军的视点。

U.C.0079年.3月。天空中突然降下无数飞行物，然后飞行物也带来了战斗兵器的袭击。第1次面对巨大的「机动战士」地球联邦的反抗是那么的无力。地球的势力版图也由于吉翁公国发起强大地面压制而被改写。那时，联邦军对抗机动战士的兵器只有61式坦克，并且，对抗MS的武器也就只有"Regina"重诱导弹。
