包家收养同乡潘仲之子潘朗清（郭晋安 饰）多年，包家长子包文龙（郑伊健 饰）与他情同兄弟；中天集团首脑黄天（郑少秋 饰）造人暗算，被商业罪案调查科的探员文龙调查，却与其成为忘年交。急功近利的郎清非法赚快钱，连累前来劝阻的文龙被停职，使包家陷入困境。潘夫向昔日好友黄天求助， 朗清得以进入中天集团。复职无望的文龙被黄天赏识招入中天，由此踏入商界。文龙认识古怪少女林贞烈（陈松伶 饰），两人开始恋爱。朗清被人利用出卖中天的商业机密，引起黄天的疑心，为了获得黄天的信任，并谋得权势，朗清开始追求黄天之女黄蕾（郭蔼明 饰）。但黄蕾却因为文龙而与他悔婚，并介入到文龙与贞烈的感情中，让文龙陷入两难之境。备受悔婚屈辱的朗清，与黄天的对手一起不择手段，开始报复计划。商界人生，风云变化多端，谁能料到得与失？

当红股票经纪方进新（刘松仁）被相交数十年的朋友丁蟹（郑少秋）杀死后，所遗四子女得继室罗惠玲（蓝洁瑛）照顾长大成人，长子方展博（刘青云）在事业迷茫之际得其生前旧友叶天（罗乐林）教诲，决定继承父业。得悉当年被关进台湾监狱里的丁蟹已潜逃返港时，方展博立誓要为父报仇，终令其再入 监狱，却也因此得罪了其有庞大黑社会背景的儿子丁孝蟹（邵仲衡）、丁益蟹（陶大宇）等人，弄得一家人除他之外先后都死于这伙人之手。
丁蟹获提早假释出狱进军股票界，不想事业竟一帆风顺，方展博在众人，尤其红颜知已阮梅（周慧敏）和龙纪文（郭蔼明）、好友陈滔滔（林保怡）的帮助下，欲借股票把丁蟹彻底打败。

宝言（陈慧珊 饰）为了继承父亲的遗志，为社会捍卫正义，努力成为一名法医。宝言的姐姐宝意（陈美琪 饰）是一个著名作家，专门为人解答爱情问题，但自己的感情生活却一塌糊涂，与女儿津津（钟丽琪 饰）的关系也相当恶劣。
宝言与警员家原（林宝怡 饰）有工作上的合作，但对双方的好感不大。此时津津认识了同在法医科工作的家乔（鲁文杰 饰），原来他是家原的弟弟。津津得知家乔暗恋女警员小棠（李珊珊 饰）的时候想帮他追求小棠，原来小棠已经心有所属。
家乔被误以为杀害了前女友，津津深知家乔的无辜，便请求阿姨宝言出手相助。家原也为了帮弟弟洗脱罪名，与宝言一起共同调查案件。随着工作上的多次接触，家原与宝言也展开了恋情……
