Madman, tyrant, animal - history has given Adolf Hitler many names. In Mein Kampf (My Struggle), often called the Nazi bible, Hitler describes his life, frustrations, ideals, and dreams. Born to an impoverished couple in a small town in Austria, the young Adolf grew up with the fervent desire to become a painter. The death of his parents and outright rejection from art schools in Vienna forced him into underpaid work as a laborer. During the First World War, Hitler served in the infantry and was decorated for bravery. After the war, he became actively involved with socialist political groups and quickly rose to power, establishing himself as Chairman of the National Socialist German Worker's party. In 1924, Hitler led a coalition of nationalist groups in a bid to overthrow the Bavarian government in Munich. The infamous Munich "Beer-hall putsch" was unsuccessful, and Hitler was arrested. During the nine months he was in prison, an embittered and frustrated Hitler dictated a personal manifesto to his loyal follower Rudolph Hess. He vented his sentiments against communism and the Jewish people in this document, which was to become Mein Kampf, the controversial book that is seen as the blue-print for Hitler's political and military campaign. In Mein Kampf, Hitler describes his strategy for rebuilding Germany and conquering Europe. It is a glimpse into the mind of a man who destabilized world peace and pursued the genocide now known as the Holocaust. "... I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator. In standing guard against the Jew I am defending the handiwork of the Lord".

An archaeological expedition finds the mummified bodies of Genghis Khan and his army somewhere in Mongolia. Unaware that the location is cursed, the explorers wake up the former ruler of the Mongolian empire. He warns the intruders that a large calamity will befall the world in one thousand days. The only ones who can prevent this from happening are three persons who bear wolf-shaped arrow scars. They must join forces and kill the "three emperors" so that the Khan's soul can once again sleep for a thousand years.

林昭（1932年1月23日－1968年4月29日），原名彭令昭，女，江苏苏州人，中国政治运动被迫害者。林昭1954年入北京大学新闻系学习，在1957年的反右运动中因公开支持北大学生张元勋的大字报“是时候了”而被划为右派，后因“攻击无产阶级专政罪、反革命集团罪”于1962年起被关押于上海市提篮桥监狱，在狱中书写了反对毛泽东的血书与日记。文化大革命期间，1968年4月29日林昭在狱中当着众多在押人员的面被宣判死刑，同日被中国人民解放军上海市公检法军事管制委员会枪决于上海龙华机场（张春桥时任南京军区兼上海警备区第一政治委员）。 林昭在1949年以前曾申请加入中国共产党，60年代成为基督徒，被杀害前一日模仿汪精卫《被逮口占》作五言绝命诗: 青磷光不灭，夜夜照灵台。 留得心魂在，残躯付劫灰。 他日红花发，认取血痕斑。 媲学嫣红花，从知渲染难。 1980年8月22日，上海市高级人民法院撤销军管会的判决，以精神病为由宣告林昭无罪。1981年1月25日上海高院再次做出复审，认定以精神病为由撤销判决不妥，撤销1980年的裁定，但仍与之前判决一并撤销，宣告林昭无罪。

1957年反右运动以后，有一批兰州大学的右派师生，被遣送到甘肃省天水的农村进行劳动改造。在那里，他们目睹了大跃进运动的荒唐和随之而来的饿殍遍野的惨烈。1959年底，他们中的几个人自发地办起了一个地下刊物，取名《星火》 。在《星火》杂志中，他们真实纪录了农村普遍的浮夸和贫困。他们首次从理论上对人民公社体制进行了深入系统地分析和批判。指出在农村农民已经成为农奴和奴隶。并在中国思想史上第一次提出：“建立民主社会主义反对国家社会主义”的命题。明确指出：一个政治寡头的利益集团正在形成。并且在《星火》的第一期发表了林昭的长诗《普罗米修斯受难的一日》。

《星火》是中国1960年代大饥荒期间所留存下来的唯一一份民间刊物。最后，参与创办刊物的师生和同情他们的农民和干部有43人被判重刑

Between 1958 and 1962, China lived through tragedy on an epic scale. The Great Leap Forward conceived by Mao so that China could drive industrial output ahead of Great Britain and achieve autonomy from the might of the neighbouring USSR led to a catastrophic famine resulting in the death of between 36 and 55 million people.

But the tragedy was masked by an official lie, because while China was starving to death, the grain stores were full.

Based on previously unheard testimony by survivors, rare archive footage, secret documents and interviews with the leading historians on this catastrophe, this film provides, for the first time, an insight into the folly of the Great Leap Forward. It examines the mechanisms and political decisions that led to famine, stripping away the incredible secrecy surrounding the campaign, and exposing the lie which continues even today as to who was responsible, and the true human cost
