故事发生在1945年04月的纳粹德国。在战争即将结束的时刻，几个以满或者即将16岁的德国少年被应征入伍。由于纳粹成功的洗脑教育，这些少年满怀着保卫祖国的热情义无反顾地加入了德国军队。最后他们被派去守卫位于家乡小镇的一座桥。本应该领导这些少年的军士长却第一个逃走，被宪兵击毙。少年们拒绝了闻讯赶来的女教师和父母的劝说，从被遗弃的军营里搬来一些能用的装备，在桥边一点点搭建起了火力点。而这一切都是因为逃走的将军在过桥时的所谓命令。
