夏原友希会（松本若菜 饰）从中学时代起就是班上人人瞩目的焦点人物，毕业后，她嫁人生子，美满幸福的生活堪称典范。然而，厄运毫无征兆的降临在了她头上，她和她的家人成为了一场血腥残暴的灭门凶杀案中的受害者，种种迹象表面，凶手并非谋财，而更像是一种报复。
田中武志（妻夫木聪 饰）是一名报社记者，他决定挖掘案件背后隐藏的真相。武志有一个名叫光子（满岛光 饰）的妹妹，因为虐待亲生女儿致死而锒铛入狱，被判定为拥有精神方面的障碍。武志走访了夏原生前的校友和朋友们，她所拥有的一段不为人知的黑暗历史渐渐浮出了水面，而这段历史竟然和光子有着千丝万缕的关联。

A man brutally murders a married couple and leaves the word “ikari” (“rage”) written with their blood. The killer undergoes plastic surgery and flees. At three different locations in Japan, a male stranger appears. People suspect that the stranger might be the murderer.

故事发生在日本的昭和时代，有森樱子（宫崎葵 饰）出生在一个普通的家庭之中。樱子自幼失去了母亲，由身为地质学家的父亲源一郎（三浦友和 饰）一手拉扯长大。樱子上面有两个姐姐笛子（北乃纪伊 饰）和杏子（尾崎千瑛 饰），两个女孩因为这个家庭早早失去了母亲而过早的肩负起了重任，因此性格有些强势，在强硬的姐姐们面前，性子软弱的樱子难免显得有些唯唯诺诺摇摆不定。
实际上，樱子的心里一直埋藏着一个音乐梦想，她想成为一名钢琴家，可是，彼时的日本刚刚遭受战争的蹂躏，一片破败颓靡的景象，在残酷的现实面前，樱子不得不选择退让。
