2005年5月初，一段长达8分半钟激烈的男女性爱自拍录像在互联网上引起了轩然大波。众所周知的是，片中男女的自拍录像是在不知情的状况下“流”入网络的。包括凤凰卫视和日本富士电视台在内的一些媒体都陆续报道了此事。出于社会责任感，中国大陆的记录片团队——张小熊工作室决定走近并记录下来这对受害情侣在事后的心态及这段小小的视频给他们的生活带来的变化。但当他们试着接触当事人的时候，却遭到了拒绝。经过反复的游说，在签定了保证影片不在中国大陆地区放映的合同后，事件的男主角刘志民终于接受了采访，并且允许我们正式记录他和女朋友小清的生活。而这时让人意想不到的事情却发生了，小清跳楼自杀了，就生生被记录在冰冷的镜头里。

小清去世后，刘志民陷入深深的痛苦之中，可怕的是这种痛苦转化成了仇恨。摄制组曾经几次放弃拍摄，因为在记录的过程中刘志民多次的过激行为使团队感到很危险。他要找到把他和女友的性爱录像放到网上的人，他要报复。他要求摄制组跟拍他，协助他寻找幕后主谋。在记录的过程中他突然发现一条重要的线索，并迅速锁定了一个可疑之人郑某，郑是刘的好友。5月21日我们随刘志民赶往郑某的住处，在路上刘志民却接到了一个神秘人的电话，那人告诉他不要再追查此事，否则后果不堪设想。可是再后来的几分钟里所发生的事更是整个摄制组都难以想象……
