凌晨光（刘文治 饰）有一段悲惨的童年，长大之后，凌晨光遭到了国民党的迫害，所幸得到了名为绿娘（黄梅莹 饰）的女子的帮助。就在两人渐渐碰撞出爱情的火花之际，凌晨光遭到特务追捕无奈潜逃出国。一晃眼多年过去，凌晨光在国外名利双收，并且同绿娘重逢，两人携手步入了婚礼的殿堂。
1949年建国之后，为了报效祖国，凌晨光决定携家带口返回国内，哪知道刚刚回国没多久，就发生了文化大革命。凌晨光被扣上了反动派的帽子，一家人都遭到了非人的待遇。可即便如此，当凌晨光的女儿想要跟着男友离开祖国时，凌晨光还是反对了她的决定。

Lao Yang is not "a good father" in Chinese traditional way although he's already in his 60s. His wealth has been through ups and downs ferociously. His business went bankrupt years ago. In a small seaside town, two schoolgirls are assaulted by a middle-aged man in a motel. Mia, a teenager who was working on reception that night, is the only witness. For fear of losing her job, she says nothing. Meanwhile, 12-year-old Wen, one of the victims, finds that her troubles have only just begun. Trapped in a world that offers them no safety, Mia and Wen will have to find their own way out.

Initially pushed around, he learns the ropes in his new environment quickly, eventually climbing to the position of boss by marrying the daughter of the house.

Liu Sanjie is a story that originates from the Zhuang minority people; the largest of the minority groups in China. It’s based on the legend of a woman called Liu Sanjie (literally meaning “third sister of Liu family”). Across generations, the story has become an oral tradition amongst these people and similar characters have even been found to exist in other minority cultures. According to legend, Liu Sanjie had the gift of a beautiful singing voice from a very early age. So beautiful was her voice, she could quell anger and raise the spirits of the people around her. The story became famous around China when the movie Liu Sanjie was released in 1960 – a rare musical production in Chinese cinema.

After Mao's death, Lei Feng remained a cultural icon symbolizing selflessness, modesty, and dedication; his name entered daily speech and his imagery appeared on t-shirts and memorabilia.
