《拓星者》讲述在遥远的未来，一群人如何在外星荒漠中挣扎求生的故事。因为机器故障，“拓星者”号太空飞船上的一部分人掉落在生存环境恶劣的异星球荒漠，他们需要想尽一切办法回到飞船上，拯救自己及飞船上的幸存者。然而这场意外似乎暗藏着一个巨大的秘密，极限生存的环境下，人心浮动，争斗四起，想回到飞船并不容易。

蒂姆·米勒去年因创作分歧而退出执导《死侍2》，福斯曾许诺要帮其开发另一个大项目以促进双方合作关系，如今这个项目浮出水面——米勒确认执导赛博朋克风科幻片#神经漫游者#。影片根据威廉·吉布森于1986年所著同名科幻小说《Neuromancer》——第一本同时获得“雨果奖”、“星云奖”与“菲利普·狄克奖”三大科幻小说大奖的著作而改编，讲述男主角凯斯曾是最成功的电脑骇客之一，能够使自己的神经系统连接互联网，使意识与虚拟世界相交流，却因为偷雇主东西而被解雇且受到严重惩罚，他的中枢神经系统被毒枝菌素破坏，无法再连接全球互联网进入赛博空间——一个叫作matrix的虚拟现实数据空间。凯斯因此一蹶不振开始吸毒，甚至想自我了结。不久后凯斯被一位名叫Molly Millions的街头忍者所救，Molly受雇于异常神秘的退役军官Armitage，Armitage承诺会修复凯斯的受损系统，前提是凯斯要回归骇客本行帮他完成一项大任务，然而凯斯和Molly都不清楚Armitage的终极目标。凯斯发现Armitage在他血液里注入了一种溶解性病毒，并被更换了胰腺，肝脏也被嫁接了新组织，自己不能再吸食毒品及摄入可卡因。为了探究Armitage的幕后背景以及完成自我救赎，凯斯踏上了一场艰险刺激的旅程。
此项目已经运作多年，约瑟夫·卡安和文森佐·纳塔利(《人兽杂交》)都曾接触过执导，但相继退出。而米勒此前作为视效师参与了不少项目，还有自己的视效工作室Blur，相对而言对创作科幻片会更加得心应手。该片目前正在寻找靠谱编剧改编小说。
不过米勒应该不会立即着手于这个项目，目前他全力投身于重启版《终结者》，和詹姆斯·卡梅隆以及天舞工作室构思最新的创作观点，预计明年春天开拍。
