《攻壳机动队SAC 2nd GIG》是根据士郎正宗漫画原作改编的第二季日本动画影集。

故事内容延续第一部TV版攻壳机动队STAND ALONE COMPLEX的剧情继续发展。但TV版的2部作品与剧场版无甚联系，可以看做是两个平行世界里发生的事情。
这次TV版第2季的制作班底与第一部相同，同时剧情表达上和第一季一样，每话由不同故事构成，各自独立成章，却贯穿着同一条主线。在剧情上同时电影版导演押井守也参与了协力，不过电影版中凄凉的气氛没有在TV版第二季中体现。

The story takes place in the year 2034, two years after the events in Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG. Female cyborg Major Motoko Kusanagi has left Public Security Section 9, an elite counter-terrorist and anti-crime unit specializing in cyber-warfare, which has expanded to a team of 20 field operatives with Togusa acting as the field lead.

和久隆（阪口大助 配音）、小高胜（保志总一朗 配音）、矢村大一（杉田智和 配音）、半井摩子（井口裕香 配音）等十五名少年少女，正满心希冀的准备迎接即将到来的暑假。就在此时，一位名为可可贝利的神秘男子突然出现，邀请孩子们参加一个电脑游戏。在游戏中，他们将会驾驶着巨大的机器人，和邪恶的外星物种进行战斗。
在半推半就之中，孩子们和可可贝利定下了契约，而契约一旦签订，无论发生了什么，孩子们都不可能放弃这个游戏。然而，让他们没有想到的是，巨大的机器人行动所使用的能源，竟然就是他们的生命，也就是说，无论是失败还是胜利，每一个驾驶员们所要面对的结局只有一个，那就是死亡。

In 2030 AD, even if the intention to run around as light and electrons is concentrated in one direction as the computerization becomes generalized and the information network becomes more sophisticated, by the time the "lonely person" becomes an "individual" as a complex. There are a wide variety of top-secret missions such as cybercrime investigation, terrorism deterrence / arrest, VIP protection, and corruption detection, but one incident emerges as it is carried out.

鲁路修本是帝国的王子，在母后遇害后，和失明的妹妹一起被流放到11区（原日本国）作为人质。在那里他们结识了日本王子朱雀，三人共同度过一段美好的童年时光。帝国最终全面攻陷了11区，鲁路修和妹妹的安宁生活再次被剥夺，朱雀和他们也分散了。
鲁路修和妹妹隐瞒身份，过着看似平凡的学生生活。然而鲁路修心中对于帝国的仇恨却未停止。他希望摧毁帝国，为妹妹营造一个可以快乐生活的世界。这一切随着神秘少女C.C的出现变得不再遥不可及。
此时朱雀也再次出现在他们的生活中，然而残酷的现实让童年的挚友难以重温童年往事。这里没有正义和邪恶，黑暗与光明，有的仅仅是艰难的抉择和难以预料的明天。
