1931年的老片子，却比很多后来的犯罪片都好看。除了罪犯以外，没有一个人物有特别具体的身份线索，情节紧紧围绕案件，一点多余的东西都没有。盗窃团伙和警方分别抓捕罪犯的场景来回切换，意味深长，临近结尾的群众公审大会也精彩之极，提出的关于精神病犯罪的伦理/法律问题更加让人佩服电影的深度。
