After the war, Gatsby devotes himself blindly to the pursuit of wealth by whatever means--and to the pursuit of Daisy, which amounts to the same thing. "Her voice is full of money," Gatsby says admiringly, in one of the novel's more famous descriptions. His millions made, Gatsby buys a mansion across Long Island Sound from Daisy's patrician East Egg address, throws lavish parties, and waits for her to appear. When she does, events unfold with all the tragic inevitability of a Greek drama, with detached, cynical neighbor Nick Carraway acting as chorus throughout. Spare, elegantly plotted, and written in crystalline prose, The Great Gatsby is as perfectly satisfying as the best kind of poem.

1941年，47岁的本多见到泰国幼小的月光公主，相信她是由勋转世的，在返回日本后他开始研究轮回转世以及唯识论。面对化为废墟的东京，本多期待崩溃更加深化。11年之后，本多已经是初老男人，爱慕长大成人的月光公主，相信她是清显、勋的转生，同时因无法摆脱认知的世界而对自己绝望。月光公主20岁，在返国后因为遭响尾蛇咬腿而身亡，新一轮轮回似乎又将开始。

本多在勋计划败露而被捕入狱之后，还是辞去法官的职务，无偿为勋担任辩护律师，希望凭借自己法律上的优势改变他的命运，弥补自己在《春雪》里未能拯救清显的遗憾。
本多的努力最终败给了勋追求“纯粹的人生”的强烈渴望。当勋发现自己的“纯粹”被情人自私的伪证和父亲同样心怀鬼胎的“大义灭亲”（告密）玷污之后，极度痛苦的他在出狱后毅然选择将悲剧进行到底——一个人潜入藏原家完成暗杀计划并剖腹自尽。

男主角松枝清显在与女主角搭乘人力车赏雪时，初吻大自己两岁的绫仓聪子，这一幕让人难以忘怀。清显因为自己的自尊被聪子伤害而倔强不理对方，最终聪子答应了洞院宫治典王的求婚。婚约定下，清显才发现自己是多么爱聪子，于是以公布情书为威胁与聪子频频幽会，最终导致聪子怀孕，松枝侯爵不得不出面，帮助聪子前往大阪拿下小孩，聪子最后在月修寺出家为尼。清显最后想要与堕胎的聪子见面，遭到拒绝，在好友本多繁邦的帮助下依然无法得以实现见聪子一面的请求。于是在淡淡春雪飞舞时年仅二十岁的清显留下“在瀑布下再会”的遗言，回到东京两日后因肺炎而死去。
《丰饶之海》，是日本作家三岛由纪夫的超长篇巨作，1965年在雑志“新潮”开始连载。丰饶之海是三岛在东京市谷陆上自卫队东部方面总监部切腹自杀前的压轴之卷，将三岛式美学发挥到极致。丰饶之海的名称来自月海之一的丰饶海，存在于月球上的巨大坑洞，虽名为“丰饶”，其实是匮乏。[1] 丰饶之海前后分四部曲——《春雪》、《奔马》、《晓寺》、《天人五衰》。丰饶之海是一部以“滨松中纳言物语”为蓝本之“大河小说”（roman fleuve），纳入佛教唯识思想、神道一灵四魂说、能乐“仕手”“胁役”等种种东洋传统概念所写成。为此，三岛由纪夫曾自述：“我正计划在明年写一部长篇小说，可是，没有形成时代核心的哲学，如何写成一部长篇呢？我为此遍索枯肠，尽管现成的题材多得不胜枚举。”

《凯旋门》由雷马克所著，雷马克（1898-1970），德国著名小说家。《凯旋门》是其重要作品之一。
外科医生拉维克因隐藏一名犹太作家而被盖世太保逮捕，受尽折磨；后逃出集中营，流亡法国，过着朝不保夕、随时会被驱逐出境的不安定的生活。一天晚上他在塞纳河畔邂逅一位流离失所的女演员琼，两人因境遇相同而彼此相爱。不久拉维克在巴黎街头偶然遇到几年前刑讯他并折磨死他妻子的纳粹头目哈克，为报仇雪恨，他忍痛离开情人琼，想方设法追踪哈克，终于在一个夜晚将仇人诱骗到一个森林里，然后把他杀了。第二次世界大战爆发，拉维克和别的流亡者一起被法国警察逮捕，囚车载着他们穿过凯旋门，向捉摸不定的远方驶去。
小说一九四六年出版时声名大噪，立刻被译成十五种文字，当年在世界各地就被销售了近千万册，并由好莱坞于一九四八年改编成电影搬上银幕，轰动世界影坛。
