The printing press was the world's first mass-production machine. Its invention in the 1450s changed the world as dramatically as splitting the atom or sending men into space, sparking a cultural revolution that shaped the modern age. It is the machine that made us who we are today.
Stephen's investigation combines historical detective work and a hands-on challenge. He travels to France and Germany on the trail of Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press and early media entrepreneur. Along the way he discovers the lengths Gutenberg went to keep his project secret, explores the role of avaricious investors and unscrupulous competitors, and discovers why printing mattered so much in medieval Europe.
But to really understand the man and his machine, Stephen gets his hands dirty - assembling a team of craftsmen and helping them build a working replica of Gutenberg's original press. He learns how to make paper the 15th-century way and works as an apprentice in a metal foundry in preparation for the experiment to put the replica press through its paces. It was also a milestone in the history of journalism. Since the Communist revolution of 1949, a suspicious regime in Beijing had barred virtually all U.S. reporters from China. For the Nixon trip, however, the Chinese agreed to accept nearly 100 journalists, and to allow the most dramatic events — Nixon's arrival in Beijing, Zhou Enlai's welcoming banquet, visits to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City — to be televised live.

　　30多年后，女孩特地从美国赶到中国，在镜头面前，讲述自己当年如何伤害了无辜，一同回忆曾经的“文革”编年史。

　　徐星，1956年生于北京。1977年，当兵，开始写作。1981年，复员，半年后到全聚德烤鸭店工作。就是在这半年中，他创作了小说《无主题变奏》。1985年，处女作小说《无主题变奏》由《人民文学》杂志刊发，被视为中国当代文学由传统转入现代的标志性作品之一。1989年，赴德国西柏林艺术大学讲学。
　　1992年，赴德国海德堡大学读博士学位，后放弃。1994年回国。1995年，徐星被法国《观察家》评选为全世界240位杰出小说家之一。2003年获法国文学艺术骑士勋章。
　　主要作品有长篇小说《剩下的都属于你》，中短篇小说《无主题变奏》、《失去了歌声的城市》、《我是怎样发疯的》等，戏剧《星期天早晨，在革地……》、《一出戏是怎样完成的》、《国王和马的故事》等。作品被翻译成英语、法语、德语、西班牙语等语种出版。其中长篇小说《剩下的都属于你》法文版于2003年10月出版后成为畅销书，德文版问世后也畅销书肆。

《发现少校》讲述的是如何“发现”见证南京受降仪式的远征军少校的故事。
一位美军少校后代将父亲60多年前写满中文名字的小红本和数张中美军官照片放到网络上发表，搅动了二战滇缅战场的尘封记忆，许多不为人知的二战远征军的悲壮、伤感故事浮出水面。
该片是一群深圳纪录片拍摄者历时三年的心血之作，创作团队跨越大洋两岸，走访了几十位老兵。
