My life had been comfortable. That is until I got on that bus…. As I got on that bus in June of 2011, my life turned upside down. At first, I was just a passenger. Like others, I felt apologetic; I wanted to see; and I wanted to help, even in a small way. I started capturing the heroes of that astonishing sight.

2012年劇情片《長江圖》的導演楊超邀請我跟隨他們劇組，獨立創作一部有關長江的紀錄片。我出生在長江下游的城市泰州，從小對長江印象深刻，加上49年之後官方一直把長江當作母親河來宣傳，而如今隨著中國非理性發展，長江人文、生態都受到嚴重破壞。
在上海黃浦江拍攝了兩岸的繁華；在銅陵停靠點拍攝了被拆房屋廢墟前的流浪者；在大通古鎮停靠點拍攝了一個精神病患者家庭一天的日常生活；在武漢停靠點拍攝了一個因阻攔長江挖沙船雙手致殘，17次去北京上訪的老人；在三峽大壩拍攝了驚心動魄的過船閘過程；在荊州停靠點拍攝了一名流浪的精神病患者；在重慶拍攝了長江邊橋洞下面的流浪者；西藏拍攝了虔誠的佛教信徒等等。片中還穿插一些劇情片《長江圖》中的鏡頭。片中的人物則好比中國傳統山水畫長卷中的「點景」。當你看完全片，會發現這是一條死亡的長江，這正是當下中國的寫照。

煤市街，位于北京天安门广场西南侧的大栅栏地区，是一条南北走向的街道。为了在2008年奥运会前改善大栅栏地区的交通和市政设施，对这一破败的老旧城区进行改造，从2004年12月27日起，北京市政府启动了煤市街道路改扩建项目，要把原来8米宽的路面扩宽到25米，因此这条街上的多数原住民均面临被拆迁的命运。张金利、孙铁生和刘瑞萍是煤市街的三个拆迁户，他们因为不满政府和拆迁公司的赔偿方案而走上漫长的维权之路，最后均以失败告终，就算是他们之中最顽强的张金利，亦难逃被强拆的结局。这是中国大多数城市在更新发展过程中司空见惯的故事，但这部影片特殊之处在于多数素材由当事人亲自拍摄，那种置身其中的热切以及他们亲历的伤痛，呈现出不可代言的力度。他们的抗争行动改变了煤市街寻常的市井空间，让它焕发出一种新的意味。在剧烈变迁的时代，手持摄影机的张金利们，正在成为另类历史的纪录者。

Images of mostly traffic in Paris, a.o. seen from the appartment of Germaine Krull or shot while walking through the city with her. Here already the influence of the Russina avant-garde films can be seen clearly, e.g. when looking at the diagonal frame compositions.

The earliest surviving celluloid film, and believed to be the second moving picture ever created, was shot by Louis Aimé Augustin Le Prince using the LPCCP Type-1 MkII single-lens camera. It was taken in the garden of Oakwood Grange, the Whitley family house in Roundhay, Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire (UK), possibly on 14 October 1888. The film shows Adolphe Le Prince (Le Prince's son), Mrs. Sarah Whitley (Le Prince's mother-in-law), Joseph Whitley, and Miss Harriet Hartley walking around in circles, laughing to themselves, and staying within the area framed by the camera. The Roundhay Garden Scene was recorded at 12 frames per second and runs for 2.11 seconds.

Director Claude Lanzmann spent 11 years on this sprawling documentary about the Holocaust, conducting his own interviews and refusing to use a single frame of archival footage. Dividing Holocaust witnesses into three categories – survivors, bystanders, and perpetrators – Lanzmann presents testimonies from survivors of the Chelmno concentration camp, an Auschwitz escapee, and witnesses of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, as well as a chilling report of gas chambers from an SS officer at Treblinka.
