多年后重看，却觉得它不再值得五星。尤其是男主的形象刻画并不好，只能看到浪漫符号的堆砌，但却看不出他是自由地追求什么理想，所以很难想象踏实地干农活、办学校的女主会爱上他。到后面两人的冲突也有种强行塞给观众“通俗”理由的感觉（占有欲），可真正的矛盾是两个理想主义者实践理想方式的差异造成的。
要是能重拍一部就好了。当年看原著，印象中作者对自己和丹尼斯间的事也没说太多，那本书的重点也不是这段恋情，电影却把它改编成了一部直白的浪漫爱情故事，空有一个“灵魂知己”的外壳，但两人间的对白是缺乏深度的。更不要说对当地人的呈现也很单薄了，可实际上原著里他们的形象却鲜活得多。唯一至今去看仍然很迷人的，还是那些壮美的风景，但飞机上的镜头也没有多动人了，最让我感动的其实是他们拿留声机测试狒狒听贝多芬的那一幕，这才是需要足够默契才会发生的事。
