2003年12月，广州中山大学中文系公演了《阴道独白》。自此，这部来自美国、致力于消除性别暴力的女性主义戏剧，在中国大陆燃起了一股阴道之火。上海复旦大学知和社、上海海狸社、北京Bcome小组，不同的剧组用不同的方式演绎。她们在学校演、在小剧场演、在咖啡馆演、在街头演、在地铁里演。《阴道独白》也有了自己的中国名字：《阴DAO多云》、《阴道之道》、《将阴道独白到底》。这些名字都保留着那个令公众感到刺耳的词——阴道。“阴道，我说出来了”，这是一个说出来的过程，也是一个行动的过程；这是自我觉醒的过程，也是走向公众空间的过程；这是学习、认识的过程，也是本土化的过程。十年后，我们重走阴道，去问问当年的参与者，看看现在的行动者，听听来自阴道的声音。

“火把剧团”的称呼来自于文革期间，当时传统的川剧剧目在公共演出场所被禁，但偏远的农村却在私下演出，因常在夜间，需用火把照明，渐渐有此称呼。
2001年，成都的6个国家川剧团合并为一个剧团，除了出国演出外，在成都已经基本没有演出了。而更多的地方小型川剧团均遭解散。现在的“火把剧团”就是在20世纪90年代后，在国营川剧团渐至解散、演员下岗后自行组建的民间演出组织。它的产生、发展和消亡都与时代息息相关……
成都还有三四个“火把剧团”， 一般都在老居民区里的茶馆里演出，光靠门票收入难以为继：一场演出三个小时，需十几个演员，而观众仅一百多人，三元钱的门票中还有一元是茶水钱。为了生存，他们甚至上门为办丧事的主家表演变脸。
剧团的主要观众是老人，他们越来越老，越来越少，新的观众群却根本不出现。与此同时，茶馆还面临着城市改造带来的拆迁的命运。演员们看到剧团大势已去，纷纷改行，有的去跳舞，有的去做小生意……在市场经济的冲击下，城市面貌、传统文化和生活方式一天天被改变。
