Wenn man die Chance bekommt, sich seinen Lebenstraum zu erfüllen, darf man nicht lange zögern und muss die Gelegenheit beim Schopfe packen. So ähnlich sieht es die idealistische Hebamme Irene Lieblich. Ihr großer Traum ist es, ein eigenes Geburtshaus zu eröffnen. Den perfekten Platz für ihr Vorhaben hat sie schon gefunden: ein wunderschön gelegenes Grundstück am Rand einer malerischen bayerischen Kleinstadt. Eigentlich scheint das Ganze eine sichere Sache - der Antrag liegt beim örtlichen Gemeinderat, die Baufinanzierung ist dank eines unerwarteten Erbes gesichert und ein kleines Reihenhaus hat Irene für sich und ihre neunjährige Tochter Katja auch schon gemietet. Dann aber taucht zu Irenes Entsetzen noch ein anderer Interessent für das Grundstück auf: der Bestattungsunternehmer Siegfried Schroff. Er möchte sich in der ländlichen Idylle ebenfalls einen Traum erfüllen, die Eröffnung eines privaten Friedhofs.

Alfred Walch lives in Krems with his wife Anna and his three children Alexandra (17), Daniel (19) and Sonia (6). On Alexandra's 17th birthday, the town festival takes place in Krems.
