故事讲述的是在1595年，芬兰与俄罗斯之间展开了一场恶战，科努特和埃里克两兄弟参与了边境战争，在此期间为了幸存下来不得不犯下了杀人的罪行，而唯一能拯救他们的办法就是在一个小山村里蒸桑拿，以此洗脱所有的罪恶。

文拉（米娜·哈普吉拉 Minna Haapkylä 饰）和丈夫安德罗（Kari-Pekka Toivonen 饰）结婚已经很久了，两人感情一直都十分的要好。安德罗是一名短道速滑选手，一直活跃在圈内。文拉十分想要一个孩子，但是安德罗则担心孩子的出生会影响他的事业，为了打消妻子的心思，安德罗偷偷的去做了输精管结扎手术。
