FKA twigs ends months of speculation by announcing details of her highly anticipated second album. Titled MAGDALENE, the album will be released on 25th October 2019 and is the follow up to FKA twigs’ critically acclaimed Brit Award and Mercury Prize nominated debut LP1.

Created in a period where her confidence was knocked following heartbreak and laparoscopic surgery, MAGDALENE is the sound of twigs reconfiguring, emotionally and physically. As she sings on ‘Mary Magdalene’, the MAGDALENE album track that opened her highly-praised, sold-out live shows earlier in the year, “A woman’s time / A woman’s work / A woman’s time to embrace / She must put herself first”.
MAGDALENE is produced by FKA twigs and, as with LP1, the recording process has been directed by her at every stage. It was recorded between London, New York and Los Angeles over the last three years and features major contributions from Nicolas Jaar alongside a host of other collaborators. MAGDALENE sees FKA twigs creating a whole new artistic universe and it is, without doubt, her most masterful, innovative work to date.

"Cellophane" is a song by English singer FKA Twigs, released as a single on 24 April 2019 through Young Turks. It is her first single in three years. Its music video was also released on 24 April.

FKA twigs announced “Don’t Judge Me” on January 25th, 2021, the day before its release date on her Instagram. She also confirmed contributions from UK rapper Headie One and producer Fred again.., alongside music video direction led by herself and Emmanuel Adjei.
twigs and Headie talk about their respective struggles and ask for compassion; twigs is in search of a lover who’ll accept her and match her energy, and Headie vents about the struggles of being a black man in the UK, sharing his experiences about facing racial discrimination and police brutality.
In 2020, twigs featured on Headie One and Fred’s collaborative project, GANG, on an interlude with a similar name, “Judge Me”. This song serves as the complete version of “Judge Me”.

We just passed the two-year anniversary of FKA Twigs’ magnificent MAGDALENE and, despite her saying she recorded a new album during lockdown, we’ve heard none of that.
But today we’re getting a new Twigs song, “Measure Of A Man,” though it doesn’t necessarily point to anything new on the horizon. Instead, it’s a song for the soundtrack of The King’s Man, the latest installment of the Kingsman spy movie franchise, which has been delayed for two years because of the pandemic but is finally coming out next month. So it’s likely that “Measure Of A Man,” which features British rapper Central Cee, has been in the bag for a while now. Still, new FKA Twigs music!

One summer night in 2022, during a break from shooting <i>The Crow</i> reboot in Prague, FKA twigs found her way outside the city to a warehouse rave, where hundreds of strangers were dancing to loud, immersive techno. The experience snapped the English polymath (singer, dancer, songwriter, actor, force of nature) out of the intense brain fog she’d been stuck inside for years—so much so that she was moved to invent a word to describe the transcendent clarity, a portmanteau of “sex” and “euphoria” (which also sounds a bit like the Greek word used to celebrate a discovery: eureka!). <i>EUSEXUA</i>, twigs’ third studio album (and her first full-length release since her adventurous 2022 mixtape, <i>Caprisongs</i>), is not explicitly a dance record—more a love letter to dance music’s emancipating powers, channeled through the auteur’s heady, haunting signature style.

The throbbing percussion from that fateful warehouse rave pulses through the record, warping according to the mood: slinky, subterranean trip-hop on the hedonistic “Girl Feels Good,” or big-room melodrama on the strobing “Room of Fools.” On the cyborgian “Drums of Death” (produced by Koreless, who worked closely alongside twigs and appears on every track), twigs evokes a short-circuiting sexbot at an after-hours rave in the Matrix, channeling sensations of hot flesh against cold metal as she implores you to “Crash the system...Serve cunt/Serve violence.” Intriguing strangers emerge from <i>EUSEXUA</i>’s sea of fog, all of them seeking the same thing twigs is—sticky, sweaty, ego-killing, rapturous catharsis.

FKA twigs’ first full-length album brims with spartan, icy songs that whisk between distorted R&B and ethereal pop. While twigs’ pristine vocals and sensual lyrics are the cornerstone, <i>LP1</i> showcases the kind of confident production and instrumentation that play easily alongside celebrated pop minimalists like James Blake. Album highlight “Pendulum” sees FKA twigs dabbling in manipulated vocals, as wavering guitars and electric drums stutter-step intoxicatingly, while “Video Girl” finds her melodic falsetto fluttering over churning, wobbling synths and creaking percussion.

FKA twigs Teases New Album Eusexua Afterglow
FKA twigs is going to be releasing more new music very soon. The singer just finished her tour in support of Eusexua with a performance at Lowlands, and she told the crowd at the Dutch festival about a project called Eusexua Afterglow. “I am full and abundant and ready to give birth, FKA twigs said. “Her name is Afterglow, and my labor shall commence next month.” Representatives for FKA twigs confirmed to Pitchfork that Eusexua Afterglow is “not a deluxe version, but rather a whole new album.”
