在三面是沼泽的关东朝日少管所里，少年们每天点名、打扫卫生、吃饭、劳作，过着单调的生活。其中有个外号叫“三垒手”的少年原是高中棒球队中的一名优秀的三垒手。年级较长的明和“三垒手”起了冲突，两人被关进了单独小间。不久后，“三垒手”的母亲前来探监，而他依然态度冷淡。社会福利团SBC每三个月会来一次少管所，只有这时候少年们才能接触到年轻的女性。这时又有一个少年被送进少管所，成为“三垒手”的工作搭档，他的外号叫“2B”。某日，一个外号叫“沉默”的少年成功从农场逃走。无法忍受所内生活的“2B”也企图逃跑，但终于还是被送了回来，“三垒手”痛打了“2B”，然而在他的心中也藏着对自由的强烈渴望……
