Every Dead Thing [
Former NYPD detective Charlie Parker, tormented by the brutal, unsolved murders of his wife and young daughter and driven by visions of the dead, tracks a serial killer from New York City to the American South. There, in the dark streets of New Orleans and the deadly moonlit bayous, Charlie finds his buried instincts -- for love, survival, and, ultimately, for killing -- reawakening as he confronts a monster beyond all imagining.
Nocturnes

奪命旅人正伺機而動,幾乎無人得以倖免;

{打從「他」逃獄殺警的那一刻起,平靜三百年的小島冤死之靈再度甦醒,一場如同宿命輪迴的復仇與贖罪之旅,在腥風血雨中展開……}

The Killing Kind [
Nobody wants to believe that Grace Peltier committed suicide: not Curtis, her father; not former U.S. Senator Jack Mercier; and not private detective Charlie Parker, who has been hired to investigate the circumstances of her death.
But when a mass grave in northern Maine reveals the final resting place of the Aroostook Baptists, a religious community that disappeared almost forty years earlier, Parker realises that their deaths and the violent passing of Grave Peltier are part of the same mystery, one that has its roots in her family history and in the origins of the shadowy organisation known as the Fellowship.
For before she died, Grace Peltier stole something from the Fellowship, a relic capable of linking it to decades of violence and the slaughter of the Aroostook Baptists, and now someone has been sent to recover it. Lied to, intimidated and haunted by visions of a small, stray boy, Parker's search for the truth behind Grace's death draws him into a series of increasingly violent confrontations with the Fellowship's enforcer, the demonic arachnophile known as Mr Pudd.
Aided and abetted by the genial killers Angel and Louis, Parker must descend into the depths of a honeycomb world populated by dark angels and lost souls, a world where the ghosts of the dead wait for justice and the unwary are prey for the worst kind of creatures.

The Book of Lost Things
唸完最後兩段時,我的眼眶是濕的,為此又把那幾句話讀了兩次:“For a man’s lifetime was but a moment in that place, and every man dreams his own heaven. And, in the darkness, David closed his eyes as all that was lost was found again.”。

Every Dead Thing [
Hailed internationally as a page-turner in a league with the fiction of Thomas Harris, this lyrical and terrifying bestseller is the stunning achievement of an "extravagantly gifted" ("Kirkus Reviews)" new novelist. John Connolly superbly taps into the tortured mind and gritty world of former NYPD detective Charlie "Bird" Parker, tormented by the brutal, unsolved murders of his wife and young daughter. Driven by visions of the dead, Parker tracks a serial killer from New York City to the American South, and finds his buried instincts -- for love, survival, and, ultimately, for killing -- awakening as he confronts a monster beyond imagining...

The Land of Lost Things [图书] Sukkertoppen Goodreads
Twice upon a time - for that is how some stories should continue . . .
Phoebe, an eight-year-old girl, lies comatose following a car accident. She is a body without a spirit, a stolen child. Ceres, her mother, can only sit by her bedside and read aloud to Phoebe the fairy stories she loves in the hope they might summon her back to this world.
But it is hard to keep faith, so very hard.
Now an old house on the hospital grounds, a property connected to a book written by a vanished author, is calling to Ceres. Something wants her to enter, and to journey - to a land coloured by the memories of Ceres's childhood, and the folklore beloved of her father, to a land of witches and dryads, giants and mandrakes; to a land where old enemies are watching, and waiting.
