作为2017年央视春晚总导演，杨东升可以称得上是央视“最熟悉春晚的人”之一。　有知情人透露，对大型晚会的把控，对家国情怀的深刻表达，是央视选中杨东升执导春节联欢晚会的主要原因。除此之外，包括郎昆在内的多位央视资深文艺节目导演也已经加入春晚筹备及制作工作中。
据知情人透露，除了桂林外，浙江杭州、天津和四川的西昌则分别是东、北、西分会场的外景地。
鸡年央视春晚总导演杨东升为了给观众奉献更加精彩的节目，提前半年就开始筹备。这也是近十年来央视春晚筹划最早的一次，春晚节目主持人更是被曝出将进行大换血。李梓萌、月亮姐姐、任鲁豫、李佳明等“新人”加盟主持鸡年央视春晚将是最大亮点。
