故事发生在1945年的日本，战争刚刚过去，留给世人的，是千疮百孔的世界和苦不堪言的日子。受父亲的影响，下村梅子（堀北真希 饰）决心成为一名医生，尽管遭到了家人的极力反对，但在大哥的支持下，执着的梅子依然凭借着顽强的毅力考入了医科学校。
